CHAPTER 19: Big Belly

Lexi's POV

"So, night, how does the whole pregnancy thing work?" I asked Shadow while we walked on. "Well, werewolf females usually have more than one pup at a time, but since you already know that we are just having one boy, I assume that it's because of your vampire genes. I do hope that we have more pups in the future." Shadow answered putting his arm around my shoulder. I couldn't help but agree. I do want more children with him and it would be nice to have a baby girl.

"How big do the bellies usually get?" I asked hugging my own.He chuckled. "Um. since it's usually more than one pup, the belly does get big but I don't think it will for you." He answered. "So how long do you think that I will be pregnant. I mean, vampires are pregnant for about 9 months like a human because of the same organs, but what will happen with our baby?" I asked. I would like to get all of these questions out because then I can be prepared. "Were's are pregnant for about 5 months because of the fast healing and that happens as an embryo. I think it would be a mixture of both for our kid." He answered back and I think he is right. I wonder what will happen to Ella's and Alex's girl.

Shadow's POV

"Are you gals tired?" I asked Ella and Lexi. I don't want them to hurt. "Um yeah a little. Can we stop for 5 minutes to pee. You know baby hormones." Ella said. Me and Alex looked at each other. Then we cracked up laughing. "Yea sure, Ella. Go and pee." I said to her. "Love, do you have to go or something?" I turned to her and asked. "Yea can you wait a bit?" She asked and I nodded. She gave me a small smile then went behind a tree.

I have to go too. "Come on Alex lets go. We have to find a bit of food anyway." I told him so we could go. "Yea. Hey Ella, Lexi, we will be right back. Stay here with the bags!" He yelled to the girls. "Sure thing!" Both Lexi and Ella answered. "So what do you feel for. Deer, pig, or squirrels?" I asked while walking up a small hill. "Which is easier and faster to catch?" He asked. "Well then, bacon it is. They don't run as fast." I said adding the last part because he gave me a weird look.

Ella's POV

"Hey Lexi, where do you think they went? It's been like half an hour now." I asked her. We were each sitting on a bag. "I think they went hun..." I cut her off because I heard something .

"What is it?" She whispered to me. I shrugged. "Who is there? Show yourself!" I said using my Alpha voice. There was no answer. "Ella, it's a warrior from Alec!" I barely heard Lexi say because it was barely a whisper. I felt sick. According to Alex, they are the most cruel and uncompassionate of all vampires. I was about to turn towards Lexi and ask if she was sure but was tackled to the ground before I could even move my head an inch. This is not good.

Alex's POV

"I hope the girls are hungry because this pig was NOT easy to catch!" I said. We have been chasing this stupid swine for about 25 minutes and we were making our way back to the girls. "Trust me they will be." Shadow said but I had stopped walking and he had past me. "Alex, whats wrong?" He asked me but before I could answer, I knew that they were here. I let drop the pig and ran like if I was on fire. I felt something close behind me and knew it was Shadow in wolf form.

When we arrived there was a vampire pinning Ella to the floor while she tried to get her off and Lexi was fighting two vamps at a time but she had a couple of cuts on her arms and face. They were slowly healing.

I saw red. I ran up to where Ella was and grabbed the vamp by the hair and flung him off to the nearest tree. He hit it and didn't get up. The tree was even split in two.

Shadow's POV

I could tell by the way that Alex just took off that Ella and Lexi were in trouble. I didn't even think about it when I changed into my wolf and ran up to him. When he arrived at the site, I saw Lexi and immediately ran towards her. I reached one of the vamps and tore it's arm off. He hissed and cried out in pain. Then I bit down on his neck and yanked until it's head came off. I looked over at Lexi and felt sick. She was hurt! I could see that they were already healing but I could still feel her pain. I started towards her but Alex stopped me. "Wait, leave her do it. I can tell she has pregnant anger and she will finish the vamp fast." Alex told me and I stopped even though I didn't really feel it was a good idea.

I looked at Lexi and saw that the vamp was right in front of me. "Boo!" He said and sunk his teeth into my forearm. His fangs piercing my skin hurt so bad that I dropped to my side. I was turning back into my human form. I felt faint and then, I did faint.

Lexi's POV

I had the vamp in a neck lock then out of nowhere, he was out of my grasp and I turned around in a spot to see were he had gone. I thought he left so I turned to see Shadow.

I didn't even get to say anything when I felt a horrible pain in my forearm. The vamp had bit into him! I hissed and cried out in anger. "That's it! No one, and I mean no one gets to hurt my mate!" I yelled at the stupid vamp. "Oh yea, and what will you do Princess?" He said in a mocking tone. "First off, show some respect! I am your princess like it or not! And second, you just made a pregnant women angry!" I finished. He was about to laugh but I stopped him by sinking my teeth into his inner thigh. Then I yanked his right leg off in one try. He was screaming his head off! Then I took off all his fingers. He was about to faint but I slapped him to make him stay awake. Then I grabbed him by the other leg and swung him towards the biggest tree there. He didn't get up.

Ella's POV

"What just happened?" I asked Alex. "I think that you should never get Lexi angry when she is pregnant." He answered back. "I still don't get it. The vampire was laughing one second then in a blink of an eye, he is over there.Dead!" I said. "Baby, that is vampire pregnancy to you. She let her mate/mother/girl instincts take over!" Alex said and I sort of understood.

We walked next to Shadow to see if he was okay. "Is he going to be fine?" I asked Lexi and Alex. "Yes, he will just be sick for a couple of days. But since he is a werewolf, he will probably wake up in a few hours." Lexi said and went to grab a blanket from the bags and put it under Shadows head.

"Let's start a fire, shall we?" Lexi said and started looking for wood. "I'll go get the pig I dropped. You go and help her." Alex told me. He kissed me then ran off. "Are you...did you get hurt that bad?" I asked Lexi. "Yes, I am fine." She said picking up a stick, examining it then tossing it over her shoulder. "Well, know we know that this is going to be hard." I said and Lexi sighed. "You have no idea." She said walking over to me with a handful of sticks then walking back to where Shadow was. I couldn't help but say, "What?"
