As we walked I wondered what Pan was planning for these three idiots. They really were stupid. I mean, come on. You’d think they’d be just a little suspicious. I had honestly no idea what he had in store for them, but I was looking forward to seeing them after they learned who Peter really was.

We reached the outskirts of the camp and crept in silence as we neared the edge. It was deserted and the fire pit was bare.

“They’re not here,” I said, confused, “Why aren’t they here?” I was looking at Peter quizzically. I knew they wouldn’t be here, but I was trying to see if this was part of the plan. I couldn’t tell. “The sun’s gone down, they should be having a party.” “Maybe they’re out searching for us…” said Pan, “Or them,” he added nodding at the three behind us. “I just, I don’t understand.” Suddenly two traps fell from the trees above. One trapped myself, Sloane, and Greyson. The other trapped Pan and Bentley.

“KATE!” shouted Peter as we lunged against the bars in a desperate attempt to break through to eachother.

“You really thought it would be that easy?” asked Felix walking out from behind a tree. He was flanked by two other lost boys. One of them was called Dan, but I couldn’t remember the other’s name. Adam, or something like that. “Peter Pan?” asked Sloane, sneeringly. I had trouble holding in my laughter, but Felix didn’t have to. “Please,” he laughed, “If I were Pan, you’d be in much worse shape than this. You’re lucky you got the messenger. Instead of the sender. No, I’m Felix, head Lost Boy, and I’m here to ask you if you’re stupid. I mean, really, were you just planning to walk in here and kill Pan?” “Oh, please, we wouldn’t come without a plan. We know about the berries.” Felix looked puzzled, “What berries?...” “The berries that will kill Pan. His one weakness.” “Oh, Come off it Ben!” shouted Sloane, “Can’t you see they were tricking us? They just wanted to get us to come to the camp!” she turned back to Felix, “But there’s one flaw in your plan. You see, you’re outside the cage, and I’m inside, with your pretty little Lost Girl.”

Uh oh

Before I knew it Sloane had me in a headlock, her knife pointed hazardously towards my neck. “Let us go, or I’ll kill your little friend here.” “Go ahead,” Felix smirked, “Pan won’t care. And we certainly don’t.”

Ouch

I knew it was all for the game, but still, that hurt.

“Oh,” she said, “So I guess you won’t care if I just…” the tip of her knife punctured the soft flesh of my neck. I gasped involuntarily. “NO!” shouted Pan from the other cage. “Ah, so lover boy’s going to come to her rescue, huh?” Sloane threw her head back in laughter, but kept a firm grip on me. I could feel the blood trickling down to the front of my shirt. “They’ve won, Felix,” said Peter. I couldn’t believe this. What happened to Pan always wins? “Take them to Pan.”

What?

Felix looked just as confused as I felt. “Felix,” he said again, “Take them to Pan. I mean it. He should be in the skull cave right about now.”

That little bastard always had one more trick up his sleeve, didn’t he?

Felix nodded in comprehension and snapped his fingers. The cages flew open, but no one moved a muscle. “Are you coming?” Felix asked Sloane, “No one’s ever won one of these games before. I’m sure Pan will be very interested in meeting you.” “Well,” Sloane released me before digging her knife into my back, “You heard him, girlie. March.” I staggered forward after Felix. “Aren’t you coming?” asked Dan, speaking for the first time. I was looking at Peter, who still hadn’t moved. “I’ll catch up with you in a moment. After all, I’m the one that’s going to have to break it to Pan that he lost for once. I want a chance to think it through before I go in there and get myself killed. The boys nodded, and headed off into the woods with the remaining four of us following closely behind.

The dagger dug into my back as we walked farther into the woods. To the untrained eye, the path we were following may have seemed nonexistent, but I wasn’t exactly untrained. After years of hunting with my dad and my grandpa, I’d learned to notice the little things along the paths, the way the grass grew differently, and other little things that others wouldn’t have picked up on. I missed that life, but it was long gone, even before I came to Neverland.

We reached a lake, across which, I could see the skull cave, which was literally a cave shaped like a skull, glowing intimidatingly. A bit cliché, I thought, but hey, I said it before, and I’ll say it again. The people in this world didn’t seem to be very creative with words. I mean, come on. Peter Pan? That sounds like a name a child would give to a toy. Seriously I was going to have to teach these boys to think a little deeper.

My thoughts were interrupted as I was tossed violently into a row boat. The Adam kid took up the oars and began the journey across the lake.

Honestly, I didn’t think that trip could get any longer. Peter still hadn’t shown up yet, and I wondered what he had in store for us. I couldn’t help but feel a slightly excited buzz. This may have been kind of wrong, but these people deserved to be taught a lesson. I was tired of their high and mighty attitudes.

I stepped out onto the rocky shore of the cave and was violently shoved forward. “Move,” said Sloane, viscously, “I want to get this over with.”

“What’s the matter?” she asked as I gasped. Her knife had dug into the small of my back, and was slowly twisting. Not enough to do any real damage, but I could feel it ripping through my shirt and under my skin, tearing it up as it turned. “Do you find this uncomfortable?” Her mocking tone caused anger to bubble up inside me, but I held my tongue. She would get her comeuppance in due time.

Peter’s POV

I shot off as soon as they disappeared into the woods. I knew I had plenty of time, but I wanted to make sure I got there early enough to really make an entrance.

I could hear them coming, and winced at the familiar sound of Kate’s sharp intake of breath, recognizing it as the one that sounded she was in pain. I swear if they hurt her they’d regret it a million times over. I’d make them wish they were in hell. What was I thinking? This was happening much to often recently, and it really needed to stop. Focus! I stood in the shadows, facing out of the cave. “Where is he?” demanded Sloane’s annoying voice, “You said he’d be here.” “He is.” Felix’s voice was cold and steely, without emphasis or emotion. I assume she saw my figure because she called out. “Peter Pan! We meet at last.” I didn’t hold back my smirk as I turned around. “Oh, I think you’ll find we’ve already met, love.”
