Surprised? I asked as I took in the look on Sloane’s shocked face. “Honestly, I’d expected more from you especially, Sloane.” “You!” she gasped in disbelief. “But… how.” She looked utterly distraught. “Allow myself to… properly introduce myself,” I said with a mock bow, “I’m Peter, Peter Pan.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Grayson’s movement. It was small and quick, but I saw it, and caught the arrow in the instant before it struck me. Tossing it to the ground, I laughed, “Come on, now. You should know that won’t work on me! Didn’t you hear me talking to Kate? I mean, I left so many clues. You must have picked up on some of them!”

“So, this was all part of your plan, then?” asked Sloane, looking at me with utter rage. “No one makes a fool out of me, Peter Pan, especially not a child!” “You’re really not in the position to be making threats, Love.” I pointed out, “You see, I’ve already won. Everyone’s exactly where I want them.” For a moment, Sloane stared back at me, and then her vision drifted to Kate. “Everyone?” she asked with a wild look in her eyes. In one swift movement she plunged her dagger into Kate’s back, and Kate yelped in pain, and with one sharp push from Sloane, she collapsed to her knees.  The world around me moved in slow motion. I saw Felix tense to run to Kate. No. I thought. I’m going to be the one to help her. Selfish, I know, but when was I not?” I snapped my fingers, and the trap that had been laid for the three imbeciles sprung forward as the monstrous vines uncurled from the ceiling, wrapping themselves around Sloane, Greyson, and Bentley, and pulling them up to dangle ten feet from the floor of the cave.

I rushed towards Kate as time sped up again, and everyone looked around, dazed at the speed of which that had just happened. Taking her face in my hands, I searched her face for any signs of the intense pain I knew she’d be feeling at the moment, but she kept it hidden. She was so strong.

“Are you alright?” I asked. “Eh,” she shrugged, smiling weakly,

 “It’s just a scratch.”

Dan rushed towards us. Out of all the Lost Boys, his knowledge of healing and medical treatment was the greatest.

“Will she be ok?” My heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a cold iron fist.

“Oh, yeah,” he said, nodding, “If we can get her stitched up, she’ll be fine. Judging from the placement of the stab, she doesn’t appear to have had any major arteries punctured… Maybe if she’d been stabbed from the front, but since she wasn’t, she’ll be alright. You know, contrary to common belief, the human body can withstand large amounts of stabbing.”

Dan spouted of facts like this often. I’d hoped that after a few years here, he’d run out of information, but no such luck. It was like someone had forgotten to turn off the spicket, and information just kept pouring out. After all, though, he had spent years hiding from his dysfunctional and abusive family in the nearby library, so I guess he’d had a lot of time to learn.

I let out the breath I’d been keeping in, and glanced up towards our captives. The satisfaction manifested upon Sloane’s face chilled me to the bone.

Kate’s POV

Ok, just for the record, stab wounds hurt like hell.

Dan bandaged up the wound to stem the blood, but it didn’t help with the pain. God, what I would have given for some painkillers in that moment.

Peter stood up from his crouched position and looked up at the three hanging from the ceiling.

“Those are some very special vines holding you, there.” He noted. “You see, they feed on raw emotion… even personality sometimes. Lately it seems they’ve acquired a taste for arrogance. I’ve had enough trouble staying away from them this past month, but hopefully after a nice, full meal they’ll be over this little phase.
