Heyyy guys!! So I finally updated! but I'm actually very emotionally distressed at the moment though I'm trying to sound upbeat. Let's just say if you value your happiness don't finish watching Merlin and finish Allegiant in two consecutive days. Just a tip. Ok, but here's the update! k bye!! -Kat <33
Kate’s POV
The dreams were getting increasingly painful as they went on.
The next thing I knew I was sitting in a hospital room, my little brother by my side.
Oh god, No. I didn’t want to see this again. I didn’t even want to see him again. I’d tried as hard as I could to wipe him from my memory, but I couldn’t. Not completely. If he was here, that could only mean one thing. He was next.
I stared across the room at my mother’s bed, the heart monitor growing increasingly weaker. This wasn’t happening. I thought as I fought back tears. I walked slowly over to her side. Her skin was gray and ashy, and she just looked so tired. “Mommy,” I whimpered, crying. “Now, now, Kate, dear. No more tears, okay? You may not be able to see me anymore, but I’ll be right here, in your heart.” She reached out with a shaking hand, and touched my face. She smiled as she dropped her hand, and closed her eyes. I turned away as the heart monitor steadied to a high pitched drone.
She was gone.
The scene dissolved until I was standing on a rope bridge across a river. It was swinging wildly, but I’d been across it enough times, that it no longer scared me.
No. No, I didn’t want to see this again. WAKE UP! I screamed inside my head, WAKE UP!
“Kate!” called a voice from behind me, “Kate where are you going?” “Elijah, go back to the farm, it’s dangerous out here!” I shouted over my shoulder. “But where are you going?” he asked again.
“I’m going on a walk!”
The water beneath us rushed rapidly, and drowned out our voices, making us have to scream in order to hear each other, but Elijah was only six years old. He couldn’t yell that loudly yet, which is why I didn’t hear him when he shouted, “I’m coming with you!” but kept going across the bridge. Suddenly the bridge swayed dangerously to the side, and I whirled around in time to see him slip on the wet wooden planks. “Elijah!” I called as he fell forward. Breathing a sigh of relief as he managed to stay on the bridge, I hurried towards him to help him back up, but before I could reach him a spray of water hit the bridge, knocking it to the side. I slipped off the wood, and held onto the rope for dear life. Screaming as Elijah toppled of the side and into the water below. “ELIJAH!” I cried, dragging myself back to the edge.
I collapsed onto the grass and sobbed.
Peter’s POV
I touched down on at the camp and hurried over to my tent, where I found Felix snoozing in the chair beside Kate’s bed. “Get up,” I said harshly, pulling him up to his feet. “Wh- What?” he stuttered, confused and dazed with sleep. “Get out. I have to heal Kate.” “Can’t… Can’t I be in here while you do it?” he murmured drowsily. “No,” I replied harshly, shoving him towards the entrance, “I need to be alone with her.” He stumbled out the tent and left me with Kate. “Well,” I murmured, “Here goes nothing.” I bent down and placed my lips to Kate’s for a second before pulling away. A quick peck on the lips, but it should be enough to do the job, right?
Nothing.
“Why isn’t it working?” I asked out loud, huffing in frustration. I took a deep breath and looked down at her. Her auburn hair was tousled, and her skin a sickly gray shade. I felt her forehead for a moment. She was burning up. Her face was scrunched and her breaths came in uneven, heavy puffs, as if she were having a nightmare. This had to work. Taking one last look at her, I bent back down and kissed her again, really kissed her this time. I savored the feel of her lips against mine, their soft feel, and the way they fit against my own. I drew away and held her hand in mine and stared at her for a moment, holding my breath. Her eyes fluttered open, and I breathed a sigh of relief, until I saw the tears pouring out of her eyes. “Kate! What’s wrong?” I asked, sitting next to her on the bed. I put my arm around her and she sobbed into my shoulder. “El-Elijah.” She cried.
What the hell?
“My baby brother!” she cried.
Oh.
“Oh, my baby brother, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry Elijah! I could have stopped it! I-I could have saved you.”
Her voice cracked, and I held her tightly to me. “Shh…” I whispered, “It’s ok, Kate. It’s over now.”
She looked up at me, as if seeing me for the first time. “Peter!” she gasped, “Peter, I- I… thank you.” She whispered. She looked exhausted, despite the fact that she’d been unconscious for the past two days. She leaned against me, her tears falling silently now, and leaned her head on my shoulder. Slowly, I lowered her down onto the bed, and stood back, looking at her for a moment. The feverish sheen of sweat had disappeared from her forehead, and she looked peaceful.
I backed slowly out of the tent. Grinning, I faced the other boys. “What do I always say, lads?” I asked, shouting. “Peter Pan never fails!” they replied in joyous chorus. “Tomorrow, we will have a celebration! I think it’s time we showed Kate how we feast in Neverland, but for tonight, we rest! It’s been a long week, and you’ve all earned it. Now get some sleep!”
I watched as they made their ways towards their tents, shoving and messing around with each other. It was this life that I’d craved for so many years, and, while I’d made some difficult decisions in my time, I didn’t regret any of them. I wouldn’t trade this for the world.
I turned as I felt a slight tugging at my cloak. Socks was standing behind me with a smug look on his young face.
“What?” I asked, “What is it?”
“I know how you healed Kate!” He sang in the way children often do when taunting each other.
“Oh?” I asked, “And how is it, exactly, that you came upon that bit of information?”
“Well,” he said, “How else were you going to heal her? I could have told you what needed to be done! True love’s kiss can heal anything.”
Socks was wise way beyond his years. You may never age in Neverland, but Socks had only been here for two years. He’d only be eight in the outside world, yet he spoke as if he were ages older.
“And just how did you know where I’d find her true love?” I asked him again. I spoke in a joking manner, but on the inside I was confused and a bit distressed. How did this child know so much?
“Well that one was easy. It’s you of course! I’ve seen the other girls that sometimes come to the island, and you never looked at any of them the way you looked at her. That had to mean something, and she kept sneaking glances at you. She watched you with a really weird look, too. It was like she was really confused, and she didn’t know something. I just thought maybe she was confused about her feelings, so you were obviously the one who was supposed to kiss her!”
I thought over this for a moment. “You’re very observant for your age.”
He looked up at me with a small smile,
“I learned from the best.”
“Alright,” I said, laughing, “Get to bed!”
He scampered off into his tent and left me alone with my thoughts.
So, Yeah. Hope you guys like the update! I've decided to take Chloe Moretz off of the cast list, because, while she sort of fits the image I have, it just isn't right... idk... but yeah. I haven't really found an actress I like, so I think I'm just going to leave it up to y'all to picture Kate in your heads! Ok? Cool! bye guys! I'll update again before Tuesday. I promise!! -Kat <33
