Part 6

While all these events are taking place and young Stacey is pondering about her new found powers, a conversation takes place in a hut in the deep dark forest. Roberra and Sanberra were two sisters, who were witches. Sanberra was the good witch whereas her sister Roberra had the mischievous evilness inside her.

"Roberra, What have you done?" a voice asks.

"What is the matter now, Sanberra?" asked an irritated Roberra.

"You cursed that little child, didn't you?" asked Sanberra clearly not happy with her sister's actions.

Roberra merely nodded. She was already preoccupied with other works.

"With fire on her hands till eternity? Why did you give her such a deadly curse?" asked Sanberra pacing up and down the room.

"That young lady should know to control her temper. She has a very bad temper, that one." explained Roberra animatedly waving her hands.

"I have to help rescue her from the curse. That curse could kill her." said a serious Sanberra.

Her sister Roberra returned back to her other priorities.

"Chillax sister" she said. "The curse will dissolve itself when she finds her true love. In the meantime, let's sit back and enjoy the fun, shall we?

                                                                            ****************

Lunch was over and it was time for class now. Amber left for her biology class and I headed towards my chemistry lab.

I went in and sat down at my usual seat. Ryan Edward sat next to me. He was my lab partner. Opposite to me on the other table, was Tom Westorio. I blinked my eyes twice to make sure I was seeing right.

Tom? What is he doing here?

Tom was a senior. The seniors and juniors had lab at different timings.

"Hey Ryan" I hissed at my lab partner.

"What is it, Stacey?" he asked. He was already engrossed in preparing the chemicals.

"What is Tom Westorio doing in here?" I asked signaling to Tom's table.

"Oh, him" said Ryan. "He is working on some special science project."

"Oh" I replied back.

Well that explains that.

I arranged my test tubes and started working on my experiment. I got up from my seat and walked to the table in front to get a sheet of paper to record my observations.

As I was returning back, somebody bumped on me.

It was Rose, the only person in my class who used to annoy me the most.

"Watch it, redhead." She said harshly in a manner enough to annoy me.

"You are the one who bumped into me Rose." I said angrily and walked away. I could sense my body temperature starting to flare. I stood holding a test tube and pouring some solutions into it. At the same time, I tried to cool myself down. I put the test tube down and sat down with hands on my head.

Control your temper Stace. Deep breath. Deep breath. Don't shoot fire balls in the chemistry lab, now.

"Stacey, you have done the experiment the wrong way." This was Ryan. He came over to inspect my test tubes.

"You must heat the solution after you add the indicators, not the other way around" he explained.

"But I never heated them.." I came to say, but one look at my boiling test tube made it all clear to me.

Oh dear!

"You must add cobalt nitrate to your solution now so as to reverse the result." Observed the very observarent Ryan.

Cobalt nitrate? Where the heck is that solution?

"It's over there. On Tom Westorio's table" he said and returned back to recording his observations.

I gulped. Despite having known Tom since kindergarten, I haven't spoken to him. Not even once. It was like simpleton girls like me were always invisible before Tom Westorio.

Nevertheless I walked to his table with my test tube. Rose was already at his table, talking something to him. The pale blue shirt that he was wearing, accentured his looks and matched with his very blue eyes.

Oh boy! Here I go admiring him again.

"Hello, can you hand me the cobalt nitrate solution?" I asked him.

"There is no cobalt or nitrate here, redhead." said Rose.

"Excuse me Rose, but I wasn't talking to you" I replied to her face and then turned towards Tom.

She shrugged and just stood there. A hand with a solution bottle extended towards me.

"Here is cobalt nitrate" Tom said in a cool low voice.

"Thank you, Tom" I said as I got the solution bottle from his hand.

"Why do you need cobalt nitrate? It is not included in our experiment, is it?" asked Rose who was now leaning on the table frame and was chewing a gum

"No, it is not. I made a mistake" I tried to explain.

"Oh I doubt that you did mistakes. You are an A grader. You purposely made that mistake so that you could come and talk to Tom, didn't you, redhead?"

What?!

"Whoa! What are you talking about, Rose? I didn't make mistakes just so that I could come over to Tom's table. And don't call me a redhead!" I almost shouted.

I could feel the anger rising in my cheeks. I sensed Tom's eyes were looking at me. In fact all eyes in the whole lab were looking at me now. Suddenly I got that feeling. It was weird to explain and the next thing I knew was that I had got fire on my hands again.

Startled, I tried to push myself from the tables containing acids and all such solution. But too bad, I tripped over someone's feet and accidently started a lab fire.

I got up and started to run. I ran like never before. My flames diminished slowly.

'What have I done?' I thought to myself.
