A little touchup

I can't dry your tears
At the riverbends
That make their paths
Down your face
When you think no ones looking
I can't fix your broken heart
Even if I stitch it carefully
With invisible twine
Or rope it with duct tape
For nothing can be fixed
Unless it chooses to be
When your ribs curve with hunger
And you refuse to eat
I can't make you
I can't heal your scars
Or make them disappear
With a swipe of my bubblegum pink eraser
And I can't stop you
When the blade lays in your hand
The forbidden silver
You hate but can't live without
Only you can do that
But I can dry your tears
For at least a minute
And although I can't mend your heart
I know someone who can
and even though scars
Will always be there
I can try to keep more from appearing
I can say I love you
I know it won't fix anything
But there's not much else i can do
So know when I say I love you
I'm not attempting to cast a spell
With a gnarled wand of voice
To magically fix you
You're not broken
Everyone just needs
A little touchup sometimes
