Diamond's House

It has been almost a week since the Anthony incident, and I just don't know how to tell Patrick. It's complicated if you think about it. Patrick might not take it easy. He might go off on me for keeping this from him. I wanted to tell him after his birthday, so he wouldn't be all angry at me on his special day.

So, I'll just tell him today. I walk to Owen's room, where Patrick was playing with him. "Patrick...can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Yeah, why? What's up?" Patrick asked concerned by my tone of voice. He stood up and sauntered over to me.

"If I tell you...promise me you won't get mad, please?" I say nervously.

"Well, it depends on how bad the news is. I can't promise on not getting mad." Patrick says.

I sigh. "Okay, um. Patrick...before your birthday, the day I left school without notifying you, there was an incident. The reason why I left." I grew more uncomfortable by the minute.

"What? What incident?" Patrick asked curiously, and slightly impatient.

"Damn...how am I gonna tell you?" I played with my fingers. "Uh, that day, Anthony...he wrote me a love note, and I got mad because he already knows I'm with you. So, I ripped it up, threw the pieces at him, and stormed out of the class. He came storming after me and had pushed me against the lockers. Then h—he..."

"He what? What did he do?" Patrick asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"He uh...he kissed me." I finally spilled. I saw the anger spark and ignite in Patrick's eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me this before?" Patrick yelled, startling me.

"I—"

"You should've told me before! I would've taken care of the situation!" Patrick yelled, cutting me off.

"Patrick, you were so happy and I didn't want to ruin your mood! I didn't want to ruin your birthday telling you that someone else besides you had kissed my lips!" I yelled. My eye sight grew blurry from tears.

"Diamond you're more important to me than my birthday! You should've told me!"

Owen burst into tears from our yelling. I walked over to him and scooped him up into my arms. "No please don't cry baby. Shh." I kissed his cheek and wiped his tears away with my thumbs."Shh, it's okay."

Patrick carded his fingers through his hair in frustration. He calmed down minutes later. "You've kept this from me for what? Almost a week?" Patrick said trying not to get loud. I rubbed Owen's back and placed him down into his play pen after be stopped crying.

"Now what? Do you want me to handle this? Because I'm not leaving this alone." Patrick said, rubbing his face after.

"That's kinda one of the reasons I told you, right?" I said in low volume. I slowly folded my arms and chewed on my bottom lip, waiting for Patrick's response.

"I'll handle this tomorrow...at school when I see him. Imma have Dustin there to back me up if he tries some shit." Patrick says calmly. He sauntered over and embraced me, holding me tightly in his arms.

I hugged him back, and laid my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes and admired the moment as Patrick gently rocked me back and forth.

"I'm sorry for yelling. I wish you would've just told me sooner." Patrick whispered.

"It's okay, it's not your fault." I whispered back. Patrick kissed my cheek and let me go. He peered at the gold, Rolex watch on his wrist.

"It's a quarter to ten. Owen should be sleep." He picked up Owen from his play pen, and placed him gently into his crib. I grabbed Owen's pacifier from his colorful dresser, and put it in his mouth. He instantly closed his eyes and began sucking.

Patrick pulled the Bugz Bunny blanket over Owen and turned on his lullaby music player, set to turn off automatically after ten minutes.

"C'mon, let's go to bed." Patrick insisted. I smiled as we walked to my room.

"Diamond mami. Ven aqui. I wanna talk to you for a second." My mother called from her bedroom door.

"Okay." I answered. "Patrick I'll be there in a minute." I ambled over into my mother's room, which was straight down the hall from mine.

"What is it?" I asked, brushing a long strand of hair behind my ear.

"Are you two alright? I heard you guys yelling at each other, arguing." She began. "If something's harming your relationship, then tell me." She finished off.

"Another boy kissed me." I told her. "This happened almost a week ago...before Patrick's birthday, and I decided to tell him now ."

My mom sighed. "Mija, you can't keep these type of things from Patrick. You should've told him sooner. I just don't want you getting hurt, okay?"

"Okay." She kissed my forehead before I left out to my room. I just wonder how Patrick's gonna handle this situation.
