Edward McNeary
Was oh, so dreary
Carrying his hammer about
He would take it to the movies
And then to the park
While courting Miss Mary Jane Stout
He would fashion a bow 'round it
To make sure it matched
The color of Miss Mary Jane's dress
For the love he had For Miss Mary Jane
Was strong and pure but made such a mess
Whenever a man would say to his dear love
She was pretty and lovely as a dove
Edward McNeary, with his hammer so dreary
Would come down upon his head
and knock his noggin over and over
until he was dead.
And then one day
Edward found out
Miss Mary Jane loved another
And Edward McNeary
Became quite teary
When he found out it was his brother
Edward McNeary
Was ready and waiting
With his dreary hammer in hand
When all of a sudden
A maiden sad and sullen
Cut off his brother's head with an axe
He said to the maiden,
now covered in red
Why did you cut off
me poor brother's head?
And the maiden so happy
Flashed a pearly white grin
Her hand now crimson
Scratched thoughtfully at her chin
And she said,
Oh Mr McNeary
You see my axe is so dreary
I carry it wherever I go
But I suspected me love
Was smitten with a dove
So I cut off his head with one blow
A love blossomed 'tween them
And together they fled
With Hammer and Axe,
The happy couple were wed.
