My Johnny Sailor
I stand along the ragged coast,
My lantern burnin' bright.
Mine eyes search wide for what is lost,
My conquest for the night.
For 'ere I stand in Port Royal,
Where news of doom has reached.
The Golden Fleece has met a squall,
And proof of it has beached.
But I care not, for all its gold,
My heart bleeds just for one.
Dear darlin' Johnny, sailor bold,
Now lost, forever gone.
Now, as I walk along the beach,
The rain began to pour.
The sea came covered in a mist,
With ethereal glow.
I felt myself in cold embrace,
A known voice in my ear.
I start to thank a mystic grace,
My Johnny Sailor's here.
I smiled and kissed my sailor- dead,
But then, I start to dread.
He asks I join his grave at sea,
Bound forever, for eternity.
And though I feared, true love had won,
I said my yes, and it was done.
I felt him drag me off the shore.
And fade with him, in the ocean floor.
