"What do you want to talk about?" I asked him as casually as I could, trying to hide the fact that I was shivering at how close we were to each other.
He looked into my eyes and leaned down, cupping my cheek. I could see where this was going so I turned my head away from him and stepped back, biting my lip.
Dylan sighed and rubbed cheek in frustration. "I want to talk about... this" He said vaguely, gesturing between the two of us.
I cocked my head to the side and gave him a questioning glance, as if I didn't know what he was talking about. "What about it?" I asked, trying to sound genuinely confused. "Don't give me that Jennifer, you damn well know what I am talking about" he growled, running a hand through his hair.
I rolled my eyes "what is there to talk about? You made it pretty clear how you feel" I told him. "I... I... You're confusing!" He blurted out.
I was taken aback "Me?! Confusing?! U was pretty straight forward about how I feel about you Dylan. If anything you're the one who is confusing! You say nothing when I confess to you what I feel, then you kiss me, and right after that you ignore me I just... Ugh!"
Dylan walked closer to me and reached out for my hand. Hesitantly I placed mine in his and looked into his face, trying to discern his thoughts.
I ignored the butterflies that were fluttering around my stomach as he leaned down yet again. His lips were right there, but for the second time that day, I stepped back.
"Maybe... maybe we should start as friends again" I said softly. Dylan had a grim look on his face, but he nodded in agreement.
I walked over to the door, neatly sidestepping him. As I was about to exit the room he said "oh, by the way, our batch in Cradle High is going to have a homecoming this Saturday"
"Thanks for the info... buddy" I told him, giving him a tight smile.
Dylan ignores my undertone. "Since we're friends, want to watch a movie?" "sure!" I said, trying not to think too much about the way he said friends.
Dylan got his laptop from his desktop and plopped onto his bed. I decided to be as flirtatious as I could be so I plopped onto the spot right next to him and lay my head on his shoulder.
I felt him shiver and I grinned in spite of myself. "You can start the movie now" I whispered into his ear. His stared at me with wide eyes, I am pretty sure he knew what I was up to.
Without another word I hit the space bar and snuggled into his side.
----Friday----
The past few days have been...interesting. I made sure to have as much body contact as I could with Dylan just because I liked his reactions, and also as payback.
It was homeroom period and I would "accidentally" brush my arm against his. I glanced at him and smirked in amusement as he took a deep breath to calm himself.
When the lunch bell rang I intertwined my hand in his and smiled smugly, ignoring how red his face was.
When we arrived at our usual table Ysa instantly ran up to me, seeming excited to tell me something.
"Jennifer! Do you remember Greg?" She asked me, jumping up and down like a bunny rabbit. "Uh... He was our classmate back in highschool right?" I said uncertainly, wondering where she was going with this.
"So, you know about the homecoming? Well Greg wants to know if you will go with him" Ysa told me all in one breath.
In my peripheral vision I could see Dylan clenching his fists, but I decided to ignore it.
"Yeah, tell Greg that I would be ecstatic to go with him" I told her, grinning widely.
Ysa was already on her phone, texting Greg about my consent.
"So... Greg huh?" Dylan muttered through gritted teeth. I flashed him a flirtatious smile "why would it bother you buddy? After all, you are the one who seemingly just wants to be friends" I told him as sweetly as I could sound.
Without another word I took my seat and started eating, pretending as though I couldn't feel Dylan's stare burning at my back.
My hair was in a ponytail so I decided to tease him even further.
Casually I took my hair tie off and my hair fell to my shoulders.I heard him swear and I stifled a laugh.
Revenge is sweet.
