"You're late" was the first thing I heard when Dylan and I entered the room.
"I am so sorry miss, we got lost" Dylan apologized for the both of us. "I see" she said and glanced at our intertwined hands.
I let go of his hand quickly and turned away to hide my blush.
"Since this is the first day of school I will let you off with a warning, but next time I won't be so lenient. Please take a seat" she told us.
I nodded gratefully and looked around the room. There were about 40 students watching us as if we were a movie.
I looked around and saw that at the back of the room there were two seats that were empty.
I tugged at Dylan's hand and led him to the back of the room. No! I do not like him, not now not ever! Sure I did for a short time back in highschool, but now it's different ok?!
I sat on the chair and stared at the board in the front to make it seem like I was actually paying attention.
"So, good morning I am Miss Stella and I will be your HR rep for this school year. As it is the first day of class and you are all freshmen, I will require you to talk to the person next to you for the next five minutes. If you already know the person to your left, talk to the person on your right and vice versa. Timer starts... Now"
I glanced to the left where Dylan was but I saw that he was already talking to a girl with auburn hair and hazel eyes. She wore red glasses and a black shirt that had a print on it that said "I fell, I loved, I cried but I'm still ok"
And before you make any assumptions no, I was not jealous! Dylan and I are just... good acquaintances, not even friends yet. Former classmates more like it.
I glanced to the right and saw a guy with brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a white jacket and a blue shirt underneath it. I walked up to him and grinned, trying to look as friendly as I could. Which might've just come made me look like a creepy psycho who was related to the Joker.
"Hi! My name is Jennifer" I said and stuck my hand out for a handshake. "Jennifer? Like Jennifer Lawrence?" he joked. I laughed and shook my head
"I could never be her, Jennifer Lawrence is one of a kind. I'm just Jennifer Shire" I told him. "Well then, just Jennifer Shire my name is just Mark Hoffermon" he said. I rolled my eyes and laughed at him."So... umm... I guess we should ask each other questions now" I said uncertainly. "What's your favorite sport? " He asked me. "Volleyball" I answered almost immediately. "I have a feeling we are going to be fast friends just Jennifer Shire" he told me, grinning widely.
-lunch time-
Mark and I were talking and walking in the cafeteria when I heard someone call out my name. "Jennifer over here!" I looked around and saw Dylan sitting beside the girl I saw him talking to earlier. Right now he was waving me over.
"Is he a friend of yours?" Mark asked me sounding amused and stressing the "friend" part. "Shut up!" I said and punched his shoulder. "Ow!" he complained and rubbed his sore spot. "You still didn't answer me though" he pointed I rolled my eyes and dragged him with me over to Dylan.
"Help! This evil woman is taking me captive and turning me over to her master" Mark exclaimed dramatically.
"idiot" I muttered under my breath. "Hey now, it's a little to early in our friendship to be calling each other names" Mark whined. I ignored him.
When the both of us arrived at Dylan's table the first thing Dylan said to me was "who's you friend?".
It may have just been my imagination but I swear I saw a flash of jealousy in his eyes. It was probably just my mind creating things I wanted to see.
Not that I wanted him to be jealous but... Ugh! you get the point!
"I could ask you the same thing" I told him, nodding to the direction of the girl he was seated with in the table.
"Dylan! You didn't tell me you had a girlfriend!" the girl exclaimed. "I'm-she's not his-my girlfriend!" Dylan and I exclaimed in a denying tone at the same time. We looked at each other then turned away, embarrassed.
"Mhmm, ok" the girl said, sounding unconvinced.
I turned to Mark wondering why he was being so quiet, but then I realized that it was due to the fact that he was staring in awe at what's her name.
I grinned mischievously at him and turned to the girl "my name is Jennifer and this is my friend, Mark" I told her, stressing out the friend part to make sure that she got the drift that he was most probably available and single.
"Uh... Umm.. Yeah hi" was all Mark managed to get out.
The girl giggled "I kind of gathered that your name was Jennifer from the way that this guy over here (she points at Dylan) practically screamed it to get your attention. My name is Daisy"
I shook her hand and sat down across from her. Mark was still standing there looking like an idiot so I decided to help him out and pulled him into the chair beside me.
"So Daisy huh? Nice name" Mark said. I mentally cheered that the dummy finally said something without stuttering in front of her.
After a few minutes the four of us started talking to each other as if we'd been best friends for years, although I really hoped Daisy and Mark will be MORE then friends if you catch my drift.
Everything was going well until...
"Jennifer?!"
