I got up a couple of hours later and laid Julia in her bassinet, turning on her nightlight and walking downstairs. I hadn't eaten in forever. I opened the cupboard and grabbed the Nutella, taking it to the island and picking up a spoon before scooping the chocolate spread onto it and sticking it in my mouth.
I put the Nutella back and turned around to see Alan standing behind me, smirking. "I was hungry," I said, pulling the spoon from my mouth. He laughed and reached a hand behind me, bulling me to him. I sat the clean spoon on the island and wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing his lips gently.
I felt him smile against my lips and we pulled away, our foreheads touching. "I love you," I said, smiling and pecking his lips again. "But I love you more," he smiled. Julia's cry rang out through the hall and I wiggled from Alan's arms, walking up the stairs and lifting Julia from her bassinet.
She automatically stopped crying as she nuzzled into my chest. I walked back down the stairs and saw Alan holding a warm bottle for Julia. I took the bottle and say on the couch, pulling the pink maternity pillow around my waist and resting Julia on it.
I brought the bottle to her mouth and smiled as she began to drink, making little snort noises as she gulped down the milk. Alan sat beside me and his hand softly ran over her fiery hair. "She was hungry," I laughed as I pulled the bottle away for a moment so she could breathe. She smacked her lips and I brought the bottle back.
"Just wait, Alan. Before we know it, she'll be dating and going to prom and getting married," I frowned. "April, she's three days old, hopefully there will be plenty of years before any of that," he grinned. "Besides, she has a rockstar dad. I'll beat up all the boys."
I rolled my eyes and Julia finished her bottle. Alan reached out and I placed her in his arms. She yawned and Alan took her upstairs while I cleaned her bottle. I walked up and saw Alan standing with Julia and talking to her.
"And I thought mommy didn't like me. And uncle Tino told me he'd beat me up if I asked her out. But I did anyways, and then she said yes, and he beat me up. But that's okay, because if I wouldn't have, I wouldn't have you here, and I wouldn't have your mommy."
