"Psst. Mommy," Julia whispered, shaking my arm. "Hmm?" I asked, struggling to open one eye and look at her. "I'm hungry," she whispered again. "Go tell daddy to make breakfast," I mumbled," closing my eye again.

She sighed and I heard the patter of her feet as she walked to the other side of the bed. "Psst. Daddy," she whispered. "What?" Alan mumbled. "I'm hungry," she whispered again. "Okay, head downstairs and I'll be right there," he said, beginning to get up.

I heard her feet bound down the stairs before a sharp slap was sent to my ass. "Ouch!" I yelled, suddenly awake and looking at Alan who had a grin on his face. "That's for trying to get extra sleep! Now c'mon," he laughed, kissing me before walking down the stairs.

I rubbed my butt and pouted to myself before standing, stretching, and pulling on some sweatpants and a black zip-up jacket. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and walked downstairs to see Julia sitting at the table holding her Squidgy doll and talking to it.

I walked into the dining room and sat beside her. She looked up at me and smiled. "Squidgy thinks you look very pretty, mommy," Julia said, making Squidgy jump around the table.

"Oh does he? Well thank you, Squidgy," I smiled, kissing it on top of its head. Julia giggled and Alan peeked his head in the dining room. "Is Squidgy trying to steal mommy from me?" Alan asked, faking hurt.

Julia laughed and nodded and Alan let out an exaggerated gasp. "Well I never thought I'd see the day when a squid took my wife from me," he said, going back to fixing the eggs. I rolled my eyes and Julia looked up at the clock.

"Daddy you're gonna be late for work," she said. "I staying home today!" he grinned as he brought the plates into the kitchen, kissing her head as he sat her smiley face pancake with eggs and bacon in front of her.

"Really?" She squealed. He nodded and she looked at me. "Today's gonna be the best day EVER!" she said as she stabbed her egg with her fork, bringing it to her mouth. "I mean, I already got eggs and now daddy's staying home too? It's great!"

I laughed and took a bite of my own food, taking a second to clean Julia's mouth of the syrup she had managed to smear across her cheek before looking up at Alan who was smiling at me.

"So can we go to the park today?" Julia asked, her mouth full of pancake. "If it's okay with daddy," I said, wiping more syrup from her face. She looked over at Alan who nodded.

"Yay! I gotta go get dressed!" She yelled, jumping from her chair. "Woah! You gotta finish eating first!" "I'm full!" She called back.

I laughed and looked at Alan who was laughing as well. I gathered mine and Julia's plates, standing and walking beside Alan's chair, lifting his clean plate as well. I kissed his cheek before picking up the empty glasses.

"Do you need help?" he asked. "Pfft. I've been a mother for 5 years, Alan. I'm sure I can handle this," I scoffed. He rolled his eyes and I placed the dishes into the sink, walking up the stairs to check on Julia who was placing her sunglasses on her head.

"I'm ready now," she commented. She'd pulled on a white tank top, jean shorts, red keds, and her sunglasses were pink hearts. "Well aren't you just cute?" I smiled. "Go downstairs and I'll get dressed real quick," I said, ruffling her hair a bit.

I walked into the bedroom and opened my closet, pulling out some skinnies, combat boots, and a flannel. I pulled the flannel over the tanktop I'd slept in and followed suit with the rest of my clothes.

I put on some mascara before walking down the stairs to see Alan and Julia sitting on the couch. "I'll always love you because you'll always be my baby girl, okay?" Julia nodded and wrapped her alarms around Alan's neck. I walked into the living room and they both turned to look at me. "Who's ready for the park?" I asked.

"ME!" Julia screeched, jumping from Alan's arms and running to the door. I tossed Alan the keys and we all walked to the car. Julia buckled herself into her booster seat and Alan pulled out his phone, finding an angle that got all of us and snapped a picture.

"Hey! There's my friend Aimee!" Julia yelled as we pulled into the parking lot of the park. Julia climbed out and ran to her friend. They hugged and held hands as they ran off together. Alan and I got out and walked to a shaded park bench near the back of the playground. We climbed on top, resting our feet on the seats.

I watched as Julia and her friend ran around the playground, laughing and calling eachother's names. Alan's hand intertwined with my left, bringing it to his lips and kissing my ring finger, something he did when he knew I was in deep thought. "What's on your mind?" he asked, bumping my body with his and bringing our hands back to rest on his leg.

"I don't want her to grow up," I said, looking up at him to smile a little. "I want her to stay with me forever. I don't want her to become independent and not want to talk to me; and I certainly don't want her growing up and dating and never spending time with us," I said, laughing a little.

I looked up at Alan who looked like he was thinking, too. "Let's have another baby!" he said suddenly, snapping his fingers. My eyes widened. "What?" He looked at me an I could tell he wasn't joking.

"You're serious?" I asked. "Yeah! I've always wanted another kid, and you're only 25. You'll be able to be a protective mother a little bit longer, and Julia will have a friend. Let's have another baby," he said, grinning. "Okay," I said after a few minutes. "We'll have another baby."
