Chapter 15
"Okay, Elle. It's time for some shop therapy." Robin insisted that I needed to stop stressing out and relax. I really appreciate her caring about my well-being. But I got a lot on my mind including the fact that next week, is thanksgiving. My family has a tradition that we do, every year. But now that it's only me and my dad and lately I feel like he might not even be home.
"Haha, really."
"Yeah, now get in the car." We just left school and now Robin's taking me to a mall in New Jersey, not too far she said.I already assured her, that I was perfectly fine. "Oh, look it's snowing." I looked out the window and saw it was snowing. I heard it's supposed to snow all day.
"So, tell me the purpose of driving all the way to New Jersey?"
"..No reason. I just thought you..might need a break from everything." She continued focusing on driving.
We finally passed a sign saying now leaving New York. New Jersey mall here we come, I turned the radio down a little. "Robin." She looked at me then back at the road. "Gas" She had a confused look on her face. I pointed to the fuel gauge.
"Oh, we should probably get some gas real quick." There was a gas station up ahead, she pulled into it. I stayed in the car, Robin got out to pay for the gas. It looked like we were the only customers. The snow started to fall even harder. She came back into the car. "No luck."
"What do you mean?"
"The door was locked, so I assumed they're closed."
"In the middle of the day?" She shrugged and started the car back up.
"Don't worry hopefully, this will last us till we find another gas station." She drove off.
The road that we were on, didn't look like a normal road. "Are you sure, were going the right way?" Robin checked her phone GPS, "Robin? The-"
"One sec." She was looking back and forth at her phone and the road.
"I know but-"
"I just gotta-"
"DEER!" *Screetchhh* I grabbed the wheel and we skid across the road, right into a small ditch on the side of the road. I looked over at Robin. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm alright. Are you?"
"..I'm fine." I stepped out of the car to access the damage.
"How bad is it?" Robin yelled from the car window.
"Not that bad but it does look like were stuck." I ran my hands through my hair, very frustrated. I went back into the car. I tried to call AAA, but no service. "You got any service?" Robin handed me her phone, I tried it on her's. "Nope, not working." It looked like the snow was falling even harder than earlier. Since winter is nearly here, the sun sets pretty early.
"I'm so sorry." I looked over at her confused.
"For what?"
"I know that this little trip was supposed to be, relaxing not stressful." I placed my hand on top of her's.
"It's fine, haha really. I'm just glad that we, only crashed into a ditch." She smiled a little and I realized my hand was still on her's, so I moved it. "Um..we might be here a while. Any blankets?"
"Follow me." She got out of the car.
"Wait where-" I got out of the car also. "-Robin? Where are you going?" She opened up the trunk and folded the two back seats down. Since the car is an SUV, the back of the car including the trunk area had more space now.
