Greatest Day

I woke up in cold sweat. I wiped out the last trail of the nightmare out of my mind as I hastily got ready for school. I looked at my pale face in the mirror. Ever since I had that strange phone call, I've been having nightmares again. I pinched my cheeks in an attempt to put a little color on my face but was unsuccessful. But I wasn't going to let the nightmare get into me. I was good in suppressing harsh memories.

Misha noticed my pallid color when she picked me up for school. I shook my head at her to keep her from asking questions. She opened the passenger door and beamed at me. She called last night saying that she'd pick me since she was going early to school. I noticed her happy mood when I got in the car. Music was blaring from the speakers and she turned it down a notch to talk to me. But I could still hear the music and approved of it.

"Good morning, Ellie!" She exclaimed brightly but she had a wrinkle on her forehead and I knew she was worried of me but decided to ignore it. She had on a little make-up, something she didn't really do when we go to school.

"Good morning, Mish." I said, giving her a weird look because of her strange behaviour. She giggled and shrugged. Okay. She was being silly this morning. What could be the reason behind this?

I frowned at her, thinking she was interested in dating one of the moronic wolves in school because she was prettying herself. And then it hit me like lightning. "Is your terribly disgusting, cheerful mood in any relation to Matt Jones?"

She looked at me in surprise.

"How did you know that?" she said cautiously.

"Mm-hm. Must be because I'm psychic." I remarked dryly. "What happened?"

Her face turned red and she looked a little embarrassed. "He came to my house last Saturday. I would have slammed the door when I saw him but he barged in, dropped on his knees and held out the biggest bouquet of white lilies that I've ever seen in my entire life!"

I tittered at the thought of game-freak Matt doing that. "Oh, my gosh! That is so sweet, Mish!"

"I know," she gushed. "He begged for my forgiveness, saying that he wanted me back in his life. Then he explained everything. It was so funny, Ellie! When he finished explaining, he noticed that everyone in my family was there watching him. He was shades of red with embarrassment. I just had to forgive him!"

I chuckled. I was relieved to know that everything was perfect for Misha. It wouldn't be long before Matt confesses, I was certain.

"Thank you, Ellen." She whispered. "If it weren't for you, Mattie wouldn't have sum up the courage to talk to me. He told me so."

"No, it wasn't me, silly." I nudged her playfully on the ribs. "It was the power of love."

Matt, Nate and Michael were at the parking lot when we got to school. Misha threw me a happy grin before jumping out of the car to Matt's waiting arms. I raised an eyebrow at them and they both let each other go.

"Aww, isn't that sweet," Nate deadpanned, folding his arms over his chest.

"You're just jealous," Michael said before turning back to them. "So, are you two dating now?"
