Mike spent two consecutive nights at Carrie's house before he had to go away on a training camp for two weeks. He wished so badly that he hadn't have left. If he wouldn't have left, he thought that maybe what happened wouldn't have happened.
As it was almost eight o'clock, Mike was excited for him and Carrie's favorite show to come on. They always watched it together whenever they were both in town and this was going to be the first time in a while they were going to. Mike hopped up the steps on Carrie's front porch before ringing the doorbell. It took a minute or two before he heard Carrie's footstep practically running to get the door.
"Oh, Mike," she said rather surprised, panting from running down the stairs and to the door. "I didn't know you were coming. Come in."
She went over to the mirror as she continued to fix her makeup and make sure her hair was perfect.
"Well, it is almost Walking Dead night," he told her.
"I totally forgot," she sighed. "I can't tonight."
"Oh, that's okay," he said kind of gloomily. "Maybe another time. What do you have going on? You look absolutely beautiful by the way."
"Thank you," she blushed. "I-"
Before she could even finish her sentence, she let the visual explain itself as soon as the doorbell rang. She checked her hair in the mirror one last time before she went over and answered the door to reveal a brown hair blue eyed guy that was comparable to Mike, however Mike could crush that guy in an instant with his physique. At that moment he wanted to, knowing what he was there for.
"Hey," Carrie greeted the guy in. "I'm almost ready. Actually, Mike this is Chace, Chace this is Mike, my neighbor. I needed help with my TV earlier and he came over to fix it."
The moment was so awkward for everyone in that room. It made Mike's blood boil especially at the fact that she lied right in front of his face. He was in a load of hurt and he just wanted to go home and scream and yell and throw something. Instead he gave Chace a friendly handshake, trying to be nice and not show his anger as much as possible.
"I'm actually going to use the restroom before we head out," Chace told Carrie.
"Of course, it's down the hall to the right," Carrie pointed out.
As soon as Chace was out of earshot, Mike couldn't help but freak out as quiet as he could as he yell whispered, "What the heck, Care?!"
"What?" she looked at him confused.
Mike just shook his head unable to even put into words what he wanted to say, "How could you go out on a date with that guy? Seriously?!"
"It's none of your business who I date. Why do you care so much?" Carrie started to question.
"Because I like you," he fired back. "And more than just a neighbor friend. I really thought we were starting to have something. I guess I was wrong."
Carrie acted as though she was dumb and lost, but deep down she knew exactly what he meant. She just didn't want to admit it. "It's a little late for that now."
"You're tellin' me," he replied before excusing himself out of the house and back to his own. He was in pure disbelief as to what was going on. He watched from his window as Carrie and Chace left her house. He didn't even hold the car door open for her, he just got in the car himself, starting the car before she was even in it. Mike knew it wasn't his business to watch, but he couldn't help but judge from a distance. As much as he already hated Chace, he was more jealous than anything that he had the girl of his dreams and Mike didn't.
