Constricted by Tangrowth's vines all over, Tiny succumbed to sheer exhaustion and closed his eyes in defeat. Suddenly, a ball of fire flew towards Tangrowth, setting it on fire.
"Tangro!" Tangrowth shrieked in agony and instantly retracted its vines, letting go of Tiny. Tiny fell forward and stopped his fall with both arms. He was thrown into a coughing fit and began gasping for air.
"Tiny!" Hilda cried out in relief and rushed over to her Pokemon. He was extremely weakened. If he were to stay constricted for a second longer, he would've been dead for sure. "But who..?" Hilda searched for the source of the fireball.
"Good job, Kiki!" Kyesaid. Kiki was gasping a little. She hadn't gotten used to using fire attacks yet.
"Kye? How could you?!" Leon shouted. Kye immediately ran towards Hilda and her Pokemon, and shielded them.
"Uncle, stop this madness now!" Kye demanded.
"Kye, please move out of the way," Leon sighed.
"No, I won't! If you want to hurt her, then you'll have to hurt me too!" Kye spread out his arms in defiance.
"I'm giving you five seconds to step out of the way," Leon warned. "Five, four, three--"
"No! I won't and I never will!" Kye hissed.
Leon tensed up for a moment and looked hesitant. Then, he let out a sigh and shook his head, "very well then. Golbat, Tangrowth, dispose of them."
"U-Uncle?" the word barely left the boy's mouth. He could not believe what he had just heard. Tears started welling up in his eyes as he felt like his heart had been stabbed by a million knives. Leon was the only family he had left and now... he was trying to get rid of him? Kye's knees felt like jelly until they finally gave way; making him fall onto his knees. He was too paralyzed in shock to do anything when Tangrowth began lurching towards him.
"Kikin!" Kiki snarled and jumped in front of her trainer. She shot out a stream of flames at Tangrowth again. Tangrowth received the full force of that attack and was driven back. Meanwhile, Hilda too was lost in speechlessness. She glanced at Kye. He looked like he had spaced out.
"Tiny, return! Eelektross, I choose you!" Hilda swiftly returned one Pokeball and sent out another.
"Trosss!" Eelektross growled.
"Eelektross, Dragon Claw! Brave, Brave Bird!" Hilda commanded. Eelektross charged towards the retreating Tangrowth and viciously slashed at Tangrowth's vine-like body. Braviary's body became encompassed in a fiery glow and slammed himself into Tangrowth.
"Kiki, finish it off with Flame Charge!" Kye managed to stutter from behind Hilda. Kiki's body became covered in flames and she too tackled Tangrowth- it was super-effective!
After receiving three attacks in a row, Tangrowth finally let out a tired groan and fell face flat onto the floor. "Tangrowth, return!" Leon muttered spitefully. "It's a shame you chose her side, Kye," Leon said.
Kye slowly picked himself up from the ground and stood beside Hilda. He watched his uncle strut about proudly from the other side of the room. "So... you really are like your father," Leon began, "always standing for what's right. He chose not to attack me when he had the chance, giving me the opportunity to send him to his doom. Love was his ultimate downfall, and it will be yours too!" Leon snarled.
"What? What about my father?!" Kye demanded.
"Golbat, Steel Wing the Braviary! Slaking, I choose you!" Leon ignored Kye's question. Golbat's wings glowed silver and whacked Brave's body. The attack sent Brave crashing against the wall. "Slaking, Body Slam!" Leon pointed at Brave's fallen figure. Slaking reared up on his hind legs and leaped towards Brave.
