The rest of the week becomes a blur, between meeting up with Scott and classes, and Mitch soon enough finds himself smoothing out Scott's blue button down as best as he can and fixing the collar.

"There you go, perfect."

He gives Scott's chest an awkward pat with both hands before turning to the mirror.

They make for a striking couple he has to admit to himself. Scott, with his manly looks that make him look a bit older, all leanness and muscle and then himself, tiny and delicate but also full of sharp edges.

He fixes his sweater and checks the time on his phone when two arms come and wrap around his waist and a pair of lips is touching his neck softly.

Mitch looks up at their reflection with a small smile and Scott smiles back at him through the mirror.

He suddenly frowns and scratches his scruff awkwardly and Mitch turns to look back at him nervously.

His first thought is that Scott is second guessing this and he's quick to open his mouth to start reassuring him when Scott speaks first.

"Do you think I should've shaved my beard? We did take my earrings out but I still have the sleeve. Is it a bit much? I could shave right now if you have a razor it would take less than two min-"

Mitch laughs loudly at his nervous rambling and shakes his head fondly.

He made the perfect choice.

"No Scott, it's great. You're perfect and they'll love you." He thinks a bit before he speaks again. "Also, I think the scruff is hot."

Scott's face twists into a cocky smirk and Mitch finds himself wanting to kiss it right off.

"Is that so? Cause then I-"

He gets cut off again but this time, it's the doorbell making both of them freeze.

Mitch's eyes widen and they both check themselves in the full length mirror before reviewing their story in hushed voices.

"I met you in musical theatre, we started going out 5 months ago."

Scott nods quickly.

"I asked you out for dinner but funny enough it was closed so we went to starbucks, which shows that I'm smart and practical. I got you flowers, red roses, and then on the third date we made it official."

Not it was Mitch's turn to nod while smoothing their clothes out for the billionth time today.

"You know," Scott adds while they rush down the stairs." I think your smoothing made it wrinklier than it already was."

He chuckles and Mitch would laugh as well if he didn't feel like his legs were about to fail him. The room was both too hot and too cold and everything felt extremely wrong.

As if Scott somehow sensed it, he grabbed his shoulders and turned him around. Mitch felt small with Scott towering over him but also safe. He was okay and this weekend would go great.

"Hey, listen to me okay?" Mitch nodded and Scott gave the door a quick look before lowering his voice more. "This will go just fine.. But even if it doesn't, you're so much more than your parents think of you and I want you to know that, okay?"
