Chapter 12 - Barry's Birthday (Part 1)

Sam's POV

I woke up with my head on Barry's lap. He's still asleep and everyone else is gone. Leaving Barry on the couch, I slowly got off and went to find the Grumps. I went to the recording room and saw Arin and Dan recording Game Grumps, Jack and Vernon were in the computer room, Suzy was making her own videos, Matt and Ryan are editing, and Ross and Brian are recording some Steam Train. It was just me doing nothing and Barry is still asleep. Since the surprise isn't until later in the afternoon, I thought I'd do something productive by doing Barry's work for him. I took his drive, which has some videos already recorded, and went down to my computer and started editing. I kept working for a few more hours until Barry came to me and grabbed my shoulders.

"Morning, Sam." He said.

"It's 1pm, Dad." I said giggling.

"I overslept again?!" He said hurrying to his computer and sitting on his chair.

"I already did your work for you, it's your birthday anyways." I said and he gave me a confused look.

"It is? Jeez, I've been so caught up with work that I forgot my own birthday! Thanks Sam, for doing my work and reminding your grandpa about his birthday." He said laughing.

"You're not that old, Barry. You're not even 30 yet." I said, sitting on his lap and cuddling him. I buried my face on his shirt, and he kissed my head. I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Wanna get some late brunch? If you're still hungry that is." He asked as I got off him and nodded. We left to get food, and went for a coffee run for the grumps in case.

We went home first to get changed and went back to the Grump Space. We saw that everyone was sitting at the couch watching TV, and when they saw us they came to us , Barry specifically, to greet him. I then saw Kevin still at the couch talking to Mark and Olivia.

"So glad you guys are here! I missed you guys!" I said hugging everyone. I hugged Olivia last and the longest cuz the best was last. She even spun me around and I lost my balance and slipped, but she caught me which looked like she dipped me.

"I ship it." We heard Mark and Kevin say.

"Dad!" "Kevin!" Olivia and I yelled at the same time as they giggled.

"I'm sorry. So, what are we gonna do?" Kevin asked.

"We'll wait till Dad is busy, then we'll get ready." I replied as he nodded in agreement. Just as I said that, everyone dissipated and Barry went to do more work. The group gathered around the couch, and we thought of our plans.

"Barry usually takes a break at 3:30, which is an hour from now, so we can get the decorations set up and all the other stuff." Dan said as everyone nodded and got to work. Holly hung up banners, Suzy was getting the birthday suit like the one from Steven Universe, and Ross and Arin were making sure that Barry doesn't go in the living room. Kevin, Olivia, and Mark were putting plastic covering on the floor for the confetti and party poppers while they also took out kazoos and blowouts.

Jack and Vernon were getting the pets round up so they don't ruin everything, and after Suzy was done, she helped Matt and Ryan get dressed up as clowns because they wanted to be for some reason, and Dan was helping me keep everything in order.

Just as we checked off everything off my list as completed, I took my gift and put it on the table with the rest of everyone else's gifts. I looked at the clock and saw it was 3:20. It's almost time. I signaled everyone to hide and I saw Barry go to the bathroom. My watch hit 3:30 and I saw him get out of the bathroom and towards the living room.

"What's with all this plastic?" He asked.

"NOW!" I yelled as everyone came out singing, throwing confetti, popping the party poppers, and blowing the kazoos and blowouts. The look on Barry's face was priceless. Good thing we caught all of this on tape. Suzy then came and put the crown and cape on Barry. He got a little teary-eyed.

"Come on, don't cry now!" I said as I hugged his side and everyone joined in.

"Thanks guys. This is the best birthday I've ever had." He said as everyone "aw'ed". I dragged him to the kitchen where all the presents were and his eyes were bulging out of his eye sockets.

"I don't think I need more presents! I've already had my presents. The Grumps, an awesome roommate, new members of the family, and a loving daughter." Barry said holding Olivia, Markidogger, and I close to him.

"JUST OPEN THE PRESENTS ALREADY! YOU'RE GONNA MAKE ME CRY!" Ross yelled while Dad chuckled as we took turns showing him our gifts one by one, and he had a smile from ear to ear. The last gift remaining was mine. I took the box and gave it to him, and he opened it.

"Sam, you did this?" He said holding up the frame with a picture of everyone as a group.

"I didn't do it by myself, everyone helped. The frame, the drawings, decorations, and even the little notes on the back." I said as he pulled me closer and hugged me. I felt like I was gonna cry.

"So, what now?" Dad asked.
