Chapter 14 - New Years

The rest of the month came very smoothly. We went to New York to be with an old friend of Dad's- JonTron! Everyone except 2 people in the office celebrated Christmas since Danny and Barry are Jews, in which they celebrate Hanukkah instead, but we had a little gift exchange in the Office where I got a HUGE stuffed animal wolf from Arin.

"Hey, do you have any plans for New Years? Like a New Years resolution?" Dad asked me from his desk. I turned to face him as he did the same.

"Oh, no plans, but my resolution would be to just live happily with my family." I replied with a big smile.

"Wow. Well, mine's the same thing, but I promise that I'll find someone else for the both of us to be with, I also promise, right here, that the Grumps and I will take care of you, in every way we can, and make sure nothing horrible happens to you." He said with a smile as big as mine.

"Hey, Dad, if you can't find a partner, I will be glad to live with a single father rather than live with no father at all." I said as I approached and hugged him. He hugged back, and we heard aww's from everyone else in the office.

-Time Skip-

The timer for the arrival of the new year was coming to an end as we only had an hour left. I sat at a bean bag on the end of the couch, facing the TV. Everyone was talking, gossiping, or getting drunk, which they apologized in advance for what may happen, while I just sat there talking to Olivia with my dog's head on my lap.

"Hey, bro. Uh, something on your mind?" Olivia asked me in question of me spacing out every now and then.

"Oh, uh, yeah, a lot. It's just that Dad said that he wanted to find someone else for the both of us to be with. It's not like I'm not ready, it's just that I wanna help him find someone, but I don't know how to." I replied burying my face in Mark's fur.

"Don't worry, Sam. It'll work out! You need to cheer up....hmm....how about we steal some Monster?" She asked as she looked around. I gave her a nod, and we sneaked up to the fridge sand looked for the energy drink. We found them and stuffed a bunch in our hoodies and hid them in one of my desk's drawers. We both got one to open.

"Ahh...this stuff is good." I said laying back on my bean bag.

"Ditto." She replied.

We just kept on talking and drawing as we saw the timer with 5 minutes left.

"This is gonna be a very sexy New Year!" Danny said from the table, eating a sandwich.

"Oh my g*d I'm so excited!!!" Barry slurred with drunkenness on the other end of the couch.

"New Year...new start amirite?" Ross said very drunk, lying on the carpet.

The countdown narrowed to 10 seconds and we counted down with it.

"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1..." Everyone said in anticipation.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" Everyone screamed while they blew horns, popped party poppers, and whopped.

Dad came to hug me and I could smell the alcohol in his breath.

"Oh, uh, am I making you uncomfortable in my condition? I'll just get out of your hair..." He said embarrassed, he pulled away from the hug.

"A hug won't hurt anybody!" I said with a chuckle, he did too.

It was time for everyone to go home. Dan drove Barry and I home, me in the passenger seat and Dad passed out at the back. When we got back to the apartment, I immediately went to sleep. I didn't get much rest since it was late and we still had to work early. I woke up to my alarm going off.

'Why did we stay up longer...' I thought to myself as I groaned and turned off the alarm. I went downstairs to see that Dad's door was open, but no one was in there. I saw that the door of the bathroom down the hallway opened and I went to check it out.

Dad was hurled on the toilet, gagging and vomiting. I immediately went by his side and rubbed his back.

"Oh g*d...I don't feel good at..." He said, vomit filling in his sentence.

"This happens to you every time, and you're okay with it?!" I asked extremely concerned.

"Yeah...don't worry...just go with Dan to the office...I'll catch up in a little bit." He said as I nodded and got ready. I got downstairs just in time for when Danny was leaving. We got in his car and he played songs from Ninja Sex Party.

"Yeah, Barry got very drunk...I hope he doesn't get into much trouble." Dan said not taking his eyes off he road.

"Yeah. Oh, and uh, thanks for taking me with you, Dan." I said.

"No prob. It's no big deal, really. Say, do you wanna get some breakfast?" He asked.

"Aw heck yeah!" I said excitedly. We got some sandwiches from a place Dan likes to go to, which I didn't really mind as long as I ate something appetizing.

We got to the office and worked. I even got to be in some episodes and editing them afterwards. A few hours passed and Dad came in the office.

"Hey, Sam! How many videos have you done already?" He asked.

"Maybe 3 or 4...I kinda lost track..." I said looking through the ones I finished.

"Oh, good. Is there still some I can work on?" He asked.

"Dan and Arin are recording right now, so yes. It's just a matter of time..." I said as I heard Arin scream 'Next time on Game Grumps.'

Arin came out of the recording room as Dan came out after him laughing. He had a finished capture in his hand. He handed it to Barry, and ran after Arin again.

"What happened in there?" Barry asked. Ross came running towards me and crawled under my desk. I looked around to see Arin storming to me as well.

"ROSS, YOU MOTHERF*CKER, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!" Arin screamed in rage.

"Whoa! What's going on here?!" I asked Arin.

"Please! Help me, Sam!" Ross said, still under my desk.

"ROSS, YOU BETTER SHUT UP!!!" Arin yelled.

"Calm down, dude!" Dan replied, laughing at his rage.

"Come here, Arin." Dan said pulling Arin down to a bean bag and hugged him. I followed them and hugged Arin too. Everyone soon hugged him too, except Ross, and Arin immediately went calm.

"There, there, big cat, tell them what happened." Dan said as Arin took a deep breath.

"It's just Mario Maker again..." Arin said in defeat.

"Okay...it's just a game...maybe make it cool with Ross again...?" I said not really knowing what to do.

After a quick conversation, everyone was cool again and we continued with working. It was just another day at the Grump Space.

HOi! It's me again...sorry for this boring filler chapter. I just ran out of stuff to put in the middle since I already know how the ending's gonna go.
