I have never been to a party.
When the girls dolled me up, I expected some kind of activity that associated with making candles. Instead, Angelica took us to her and Jeffery's neighborhood. Which consisted of a bunch of old apartments.
Children with balls ran through the streets, but as we drove through, their mothers yanked them away.
"I still remember my first Neighborhood Block Party" Alexandria sighs dreamily. "Angelica and Jeffery dragged me to it in my Sophomore year."
"Where is the party exactly?" I ask as Angelica pulls the car into a spot and puts it into park.
"Just you wait Miss Fancyname" Angelica purrs, hopping out of the car. Once we were all out, she locked the car and wrapped her arm around my shoulder.
Losing my balance, I started to fall over, but Jeffery's hand gripped the back of my cardigan, pulling me back into place. Looking back, I send him a kind smile.
"Hey Jeffy! Angelica!" a voice called out, causing the five of us to look.
There stood an elderly man, who had a cap on his head and a worn smile.
"Hello Mr. Smith!" Angelica called out, a warm smile covering her face, clearly knowing the man. "What's up Smithy!?" Jeffery calls out with a laugh
"I'm about to beat your ass in tonight's dance competition" Mr Smith called out before turning around. Following where the old man walked, my eyes widened. They laid upon the small grassy area with a few benches and a beautiful cement finish. Lights dangled from the few trees, giving it a vintage vibe.
Suddenly, Jeffery ran forward, and looked around in amazement. His eyes sparkled in the lights, making him look like a little kid: happy.
"It's even better than last year!" he sighed as he twirled around, the lights shadowing his face.
"So, what's this dance thing?" I ask as Jeffery falls into the grass with a thump. Alex sits down, joining Jeffery on the ground.
"Basically, groups of people band together, and they dance, and honestly, Mr Smith has held first place for years." Angelica complains.
"That seems..nice" I frown, crossing my arms.
"Don't tell me you can't dance Miss Fancyname" Angelica returned the same frown to me.
"Okay" I say a blush creeping on my cheeks "I won't."
"What!" Jeffery shouts, making my cheeks redden even more. "How do you not dance?"
"I don't know" I mumble "I just don't"
"Well that is sure as hell changing tonight" Angelica grins wickedly.
