"Please, not another cookie" Jeffery gags as the old women try to hand him another cookie.
Angelica and I sit by Mrs. Morrison and Mr. Fritz's wife, Mrs. Fritz.
"So that boy is your brother?" Mrs. Fritz asks Angelica, making her nod. Her worn eyes trail back to Jeffery, as Mr. Fritz saves him from the women. "Well, one thing is for sure" Mrs. Morrison giggles before leaning closer to us "his Lederhosen fits him in all of the right places".
"Not again!" Angelica and I groan to each other. I move in my seat, a blush crawling onto my face. The two ladies, clearly see my blush and take it as a crush.
"Oooh! Do you like him?" Mrs. Fritz states, a grin on her face.
"I-" I start but I'm interrupted. "Up!" the two ladies state, making Angelica and I stand up.
"Dance floor, go!" they state again before shoving us onto the very empty dance floor. "What do we do?" I ask Angelica, who tries to fix her dress quickly. "Well, Germans are obsessed with Christmas?" Angelica asks, a smirk growing on her face.
"Well....I mean...yes" I sigh rolling my eyes.
"You remember that dance scene in Mean Girls?" Angelica asks me, my eyes widen.
"Oh you can't be serious" I say, my mouth dry.
"Come on Miss Fancyname!" Angelica cheers, linking my arm with hers.
My eyes gaze over the people in the club. Luckily my parents weren't here, which almost made me do it. Honestly, I had gone through enough craziness today and wanted to sleep. However, the second my eyes spotted Jeffery, laughing with the other men.
Suddenly, I wanted to dance.
My arms raise above my head before slapping down onto my thighs in sync with Angelica. The noise itself catches the attention of most people, including Jeffery.
Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Fritz smile at us with excitement as they try to dance along, but fail.
"Follow my lead" I whisper to Angelica wrapping my arm around her shoulder.
"Kick" I spoke before lowly kicking my foot into the air. Quickly catching on, Angelica and I kept kicking out feet into the air a little bit higher each time, along with shaking our bodies.
"Alright Miss Fancyname, let's go for the high kick" Angelica states moving to grip my shoulder for more support.
With a soft exhale, we both kick our legs into the air, no doubt giving everyone a view of our underwear. Gasps fill around the room, including Jeffery.
"JA! JA JA JA! GUT!" Mrs. Morrison screams, along with Mrs. Fritz trying to copy our moves.
I turn to Angelica, who laughs.
A small laugh bubbles out of my own throat, but it doesn't last long. Two faces emerge from the crowd and walk up to Angelica and I.
Practically on top of me, my father whispers "I didn't know I raised you to be such a slut". "Must be because of this Hundin, I mean do you see her dress? She's asking for it" my mother hisses, making sure those around us can't hear her.
Angelica steps forward to spit something, but I held my arm out, stopping her.
"It's funny, honestly." I say, my voice loud and comical.
"Everyone thinks you're the perfect couple with the perfect child. But here's a tip: you're not" I hiss. People start to stare again. "When no one can hear you, your true colors come out. You'll hit me for expressing myself, or at least call me a slut for trying to have harmless fun."
"Talk quieter" my mother warns, but it only makes me angrier.
"No! These people deserve the truth!" I say before my voice increases in volume. "I have worked so hard all my life, yet, it's not enough! I've been the little German girl you've wanted, but it's not enough!" I say before getting into their faces.
"Finally" I growl "You can hurt me, but I draw the line at my friends. These people have showed me more love and compassion in a few weeks than you have my entire life!".
I glare into their eyes, anger filling them, yet my body shook. "I have nothing left to say to you" I say before brushing past them.
"Grace! Grace!" voices call after me as I push through the crowd. My body quivers as I try to fight back tears. I bite down on my lip as I pull the door open, revealing the summer air.
I walk right past Angelica's car as the door opens again. "Grace! Come back here!" Angelica screams, her footsteps pushing forward.
A hand grasps mine, stopping me. "Grace" Jeffery whispers, his voice soft. He pulls me forward and into his arms. My breathing is heavy from my emotions as Angelica joins us.
"Alright, I was talking to Zach, and now we're doing it. Tomorrow, we're all leaving the city. We're going to go onto a road trip" Angelica states, a kind smile on her face.
Using my hand, I wipe away the few tears on my face. After that, I pull Angelica into the hug.
