Chapter 11: Video Games Rot your Brain (literally)

Leo's POV

It was 3 days after Bree and Delaynee had beat Adam and Chase in " The Great Mall Race" (I called it that) and they were still rubbing it in their faces. Stuff like "You got beat my two girls!!!!!!" or " Don't cry Chase, this isn't the only time you will be bested by girls". They mainly didn't tease Adam, because he couldn't comprehend it. AIR-HEAD!

Big D had been kind of MIA in the Lab since the training session. Delaynee wasn't training either. Something important must be going on. Anytime we tried to reach him, he would always had us this stupuid note everytime:

Guys,

I will not be available for an undefinable amount of time. I am working on something very important.
Please do not bother me... Especially Leo. No training either.

Since it was Christmas break, we had all the time in the world to hang out. Sometimes it wasn't a good.

Adam, Chase and I had been playing Death Match: Immortal Soldier for a while and Chase's pride got in the way.

"OH MY GOSH! I finally beat you Chase!!!" Adam said.

"You are still no match for my all time high!" Chase said.

"Geez, he was just happy he won!" Bree said.

It was true. Chase won almost every single time. Every million years Adam or I won, and he couldn't even say congrats!

"Bree you wanna play a round?" Adam asked.

"No! The game is stupid!" Bree said.

"I'll play a round!" Delaynee said grabbing a controller.

All of us except Bree continue playing until Davenport came up. He had dark circles under his eyes and looked like a zombie.

"AHHHHHHH! ZOMBIE!!!!!!" Adam yelled and ducked behind the couch.

"It's Big D!" I said.

"I have stayed up nonstop trying to finish this huge project and I did. It's a video game and the controller is your mind!" Zombie Davenport said.

"That's soo cool!" We all said in unison.

"While I take a 300 hour nap, I want you guys testing it! Except Delaynee. I want you training." Davenport said.

"That's not fair!!!!" Delaynee protested.

"Go!" Davenport said.

Delaynee sulked towards the elevator, and went down. There it stood before us, the video game!

Delaynee's POV

That was an all time low! I really wanted to test it!!! Even Bree seemed interested.

I practiced with some targets, I practiced a simple bo staff routine (still hit myself), I went into the simulator and burned the ninjas with my plasma electricity. All of this made me feel a little better, but I still wanted to be upstairs playing the video game you control with your mind. I mean how COOL is that!

After practicing my Geo Leaping a few times, Leo came down. He looked kind of bummed.

"You okay?" I asked questionably

"Not really. That new game is really hard for me since I only know one move and they know a bajillion." Leo said.

"I wish I could be a Lab Rat like you, but nope! I didn't get superpowers, and I didn't get to train for highly classified missions." Leo continued.

"You know what! I am going to let you be a Lab Rat for a day. Hop onto the simulator!" I said. I grabbed Leo a pair of glasses and he hoped on

He told me to set the simulator to our house, so I did. I gave him super sped and forcefield (so he wouldn't get beat up so badly.)

When the simulation started, it was almost lifelike and down the the very tiny detail. Adam's heat vision scorch marks were still there.

"What do we do now? Where are the ninjas?" Leo asked.

"It's probably loading, just give it a second." I said.

While we were waiting we heard the elevator ding and got ready. He come the ninjas. I Geo Lept in the elevator and electrocuted the back ninjas. Leo put a forcefield around himself. The ninjas went flying to all parts of the Lab. 3 ninjas left.

"Leo make the forcefield into a ball and cast it at them." I said.

He did, amazed at holding the ball. He threw it and knocked down 2 ninjas.

I teleported behind the final ninja and kneed him in the back. The ninja vanished, but the simulation didn't.

"We're supposed to be done, right?" Leo asked.

"I dunno, let's check upstairs" I said.

We took the elevator up and it seemed like an eternity until we got up there. The doors finally unlocked, and there stood the level boss...

Davenport?

"What the heck? Why is Big D the boss?" Leo said

"I dunno!!" I said.

Something is seriously wrong...

We advanced towards him and lasers shot out of his eyes!

"AHHHHHHHH!" Leo screamed.

I got into his gaze and quickly established a connection so I could read him.

Enemy Name: Donald Davenport
Level: BOSS
Bionics: Lasers and extreme combat skills

I came back into the real world where Leo was trying to attack him but Enemy Davenport has him in a arm lock.

I quickly thrusted out a huge bolt of plasma lightning and Evil Davenport shuck violently and disintegrated.

The simulation had ended and we both stepped off the platform.

"Why was Davenport evil?" Leo asked

"Don't look at me! I don't know!" I said.

"That was weird! Why would Davenport design himself into the game, as an evil dude? Is his ego that bad?" Leo asked.

"Again... I. DON'T. KNOW!" I said.

Then it hit me like a title wave. Someone put him in there on purpose. Someone who needed to practice on him. The first vision... Chase.

"I need to speak to Chase!" I said.

Leo and I jumped into the elevator and raced to the living room. They still had the helmets on from the video game. They were very sleek and futuristic.

"Guys, can you stop the game for a second! I need to talk to you!" I called out.

They took off the helmets, sluggishly. There faces revealed, but they weren't normal. Their faces were blank, like I was reading them... but I wasn't.

"Guys...?" Leo asked.

"Hi...Leo" Adam said.

"Guys?????" Chase asked.

"What... Chase?" Bree staggered.

"Chase why are they like that?! Did you do that?" I asked.

"No! We were playing that video game!" Chase said.

Something bad was definitely bad.

"I'll get Davenport" I said.

I teleported to Davenport's room where he was sleeping peacefully. His room was filled with tons of action figures and some of his inventions.

"WAKE UP!!" I yelled.

He stirred a little bit but he didn't wake. So I did what any other Bionic kid with my bionics would do. I tasered him!

"Ahhhhhgggg!!" Davenport shrieked.

"Wakey- wakey! Something is wrong with Adam and Bree!!" I said. I grabbed his wrist and Geo Leaped to the living room. Davenport fell when we were in the living room.

"Nice warning would've been good!" Davenport said.

"Davenport, the video game you did something to Adam and Bree's brain." Chases said.

"Video... Game..." Bree said with no emotion.

"Whaaaa?" Davenport said.

"Adam, Bree go to your capsules!" Davenport said.


We got them down to the lab and put them in their capsules. Davenport ran several scans a checks. Chase, Leo and I waited while the scans happen. This was perfect opportunity to question Chase.

"Hey Chase, when did you last use the simulator?" I asked.

"Yesterday... why?" Chase asked.

"Where was it set?" I kept asking.

"Here, again WHY?" He asked.

"Why'd you have the boss set to Davenport?" I asked

"Wait what?" Davenport said walking over to Chase.

"Leo and I did the simulator today, the final boss was you, Davenport." I said.

"You had laser eyes, Big D!" Leo said.

"Tests are done!!!!!!!" Eddy yelled.

Davenport went to the cyber desk to see the results.

"Nothing... NOTHING is showing up!" Davenport said.

"I have an idea... Bree come here!" I yelled.

Bree slowly got out of her capsule, and walked over to me. She looked right through me.

"Bree speed talk "My name is Bree Davenport"" I said.

" My name is Bree Davenport" Bree said, normally.

"The video game must've slowed down the part of the brain that handles communication and emotion." I said.

"You're a genius!" Davenport said.

"Maybe if we reverse the effects of the video game, we'll heal them!" Chase said

"But how?" Leo asked.
