He was there right beside the bed, like he promised he would.

The light of the new day blinded Eren for a brief second before he squinted to look at Levi, who was looking down at him. Eren immediately reached out for him, grabbing his hands and pulling him towards the bed, but not in a sexual way, more like a comforting and loving way.

"You're back," he murmured. His words sounded more like a question more than a statement. Levi nodded.

"Well, why wouldn't I be?" he whispered back. "Good morning. I hope you slept well. Are you hungry? I can get you something."

"No. I just want to sleep," he said and pulled the covers up to his chin.

"You need to take care of yourself, Eren."

"You're so damn persistent," he complained.

"Come on. Don't act like this right after I finally see you again," Levi mumbled and brushed the loose hairs away from Eren's face.

"I'm too tired to do anything," he said and slapped his hand away as he angled his body away from the pestering vampire.

Levi frowned and reached over to rub Eren's shoulder gingerly. "What a nice greeting early in the morning from a lover," he said sarcastically.

Eren flinched at the last word. Was that what they were now? The strange part was that once they had confessed to one another, they were automatically considered lovers. How odd, Eren thought to himself. Although it wasn't a bad thing, it did bother him just a bit. He felt like he was too much of a horrible person to deserve that sort of title or label. After all, he treated him badly. He couldn't believe how and why he was still in love with him.

Eren, lost in his thoughts, stayed silent before Levi started to caress his messy hair. "May I join you in bed?"

"No. You're not allowed," Eren mumbled into the sheets.

"Stingy," Levi commented. "Well then, I'll be gone for the whole day, maybe even more." He got up slowly, his cloak lightly sweeping the floor. He adjusted it before taking a step forward. Eren bolt up in a sitting position and snapped his arm forward to grab his wrist, stopping him in his tracks.

"Wait, what?" Eren said. "Don't go." He tugged at his hand and pulled him towards the bed. "Fine, you can come in here but don't do anything weird."

"I can't promise that, but I'll try," Levi said as he slipped in beside him. He wrapped his arms tightly around Eren's torso and rested his chin on his shoulder. "I'm really happy right now."

"Don't say embarrassing things like that," Eren muttered.

"Hmm? But hearing you not wanting me to leave is cute, so I can't help but feel content, you know? This is nice, just you and I," he responded and kissed his shoulder peeking from under his shirt. "And I was just joking by the way; there's no way I could ever leave you alone again."

Eren turned toward him and glared at him, but eventually loosened up. "Don't say anything like that. It honestly scared me," he confessed.

"I'm sorry," he apologized and hugged him closer. "It's funny how you used to be happy whenever I left you alone."

"That's in the past, it was when I didn't realize I was lying to myself. You did too. You thought you only wanted me for my blood, right? We both changed. We're different now," Eren explained.

"Are you sure you're not lying?" Levi asked.

"Are you doubting me?" Eren fired back. He looked away and bit his lip, and strangely, he felt a small lump in his throat. The thought that Levi couldn't believe him proved how rudely Eren treated him before, and so of course it was inevitable to feel the poisonous feeling of doubt. He didn't blame him, but it made him a bit upset in some weird way.
