Eren wondered if the breeze could get more colder than what it already was. It whispered into his ear and tickled his goose bump covered skin. Everyone's heads were turned at the same direction, waiting but fearing what was coming.
They were all lumped together like a herd of sheep; sharing body heat and sensing one another's panic. Eren squinted and made out a pair of boots through the thick fog, the same boots the army superiors gave away. He gasped quietly to himself. She was already back on her feet again after being stabbed by a blessed weapon, and Eren didn't know what to expect if they were to be at war. She was too powerful it seemed.
"Petra-"
"No," she said before Hanji could finish. "You guys promised," she hissed.
"Calm down," Erwin commanded. "We need to discuss this first. What exactly happened?"
"She jumped me," Eren said as he pushed his way through the crowd. "I was about to go to sleep but I accidentally cut my finger."
"He stabbed me with the knife. You said this wouldn't happen when I agreed to join you," she growled with fury.
"But she was the one who attacked first," Eren shouted, desperate to defend himself.
Petra glared at him with her hands formed into tight fists, her nails digging into her pale skin. She was absolutely enraged, and her gang of vampires noticed this. They had their fangs out, and a low grumble of growls were coming from them.
"Is this true?" Erwin questioned in a loud voice.
"Yes. It was just an accident. I wouldn't have stabbed her if I didn't need to, but she was the one who started it first," he said, internally cringing at how childish he sounded.
"Do you agree, Petra?"
"No. I couldn't help it. He's R class; do you really expect myself to push away my thirst? It was his fault for being so careless and goofing around with that weapon-" she wrinkled her nose in disgust, "in the first place."
"Petra, we supply you with blood almost everyday. You could always hold back," Hanji said as she cocked her head to the side with raised eyebrows.
"Like I said, he's R class. His blood is too... delicious. I couldn't stop myself no matter how hard I tried."
"Wait, wait, wait. I don't understand. You guys knew she was a vampire?" Eren asked with disbelief.
"That's none of your con-" Erwin started.
"Okay fine. I'll tell you the truth, Jaeger. We had a treaty with her group," Hanji said, obviously tired of Eren asking. "The action of her jumping on you and you defending yourself by hurting her broke it."
"That's not what I want to know at the moment," Erwin cut in and exhaled loudly as he rubbed his temples. "You said he was R class? Didn't you tell us that vampires are usually attracted to him? If so, why haven't I seen any swarm him? We train right next to the forest for goodness sake, and it's infested with hundreds of them. I didn't see any try and attack him."
Petra looked down and bit her lower lip like she was trying to hold her words back. Her hands were shaking, and she suddenly looked very upset.
"Because he's always near him," she snarled angrily.
"Who are you talking about?" Erwin asked curiously.
The other soldiers were tensed, and almost seemed to cower away by walking a few steps back. Eren was the closest to Petra, and it appeared like a showdown. He knew exactly who she as talking back.
"Levi Ackerman," she replied curtly. "He was always watching him, hiding in the trees then meeting up with him after the day ended. I watched them. He gave him his blood, and so his presence always scared the others away."
