My eyes sluggishly opened to slits, but I could still see the craziness in front of me. My head ached and I had an IV on the inside of my wrists; making me cringe. I returned my gaze to the people at the foot of my bed, for they were arguing loudly. After a second, I realized it was Roc and Dylan, but I had no idea why they would be fighting. From what I know they’re best of friends. Prod was holding Roc back while Prince was holding Dylan back and Ray was in between their chests. It was actually funny to see since Ray was so impossibly small, it made me giggle slightly. Then everyone’s heads snapped into my direction and they all rushed to me except Dylan. What’s up with him? All I can remember is the power going out . . . Roc couldn’t possibly be mad about that, right? It wasn’t Dylan’s fault.
Roc pushed his way through so he was closet to me and began to caress my hand without the IV. “Are you okay, Ariel?” I saw Dylan sneak out while everyone was distracted.
“Uhm . . .” I eyed my body before continuing. “Peachy.” I grinned to brighten his dull mood; he shouldn’t worry about me so much.
Roc smiled weakly in return and sighed, “Not really, Ari; you passed out due to that thing back there.” He hissed.
I fully opened my eyes and scrunched up my eyebrows. “What do you mean? What happened? All I remember is the lights going out then waking up here.”
“We—“
A plump nurse entered just then, “She needs her rest so I’ll need you to come back tomorrow kids.”
Everyone nodded and filed out with some form of good-bye. Roc hesitated, but gave me a kiss on the cheek and forced himself to leave. Once the door was shut, the nurse went over to my IV bag and filled it with some type of fluid and I fell asleep before she could even leave.
[Two days later, Dec.19th 12:03pm outside of the hospital . . .]
“Roc, stop her!” Everyone yelled, but Roc just shrugged.
“He did this to her so he deserves what he’s going to get.”
“You, dirty ugly preposterous cruel scumbag, you! I should mess up that little pretty face of yours right f*ckin’ now!” I limped my way over to Dylan as he looked between all the guys pleading for help, or for them to at least move so he can scramble away.
“Now, Ariel, you don’t want to do this . . .”
A cough from Roc, “Bullsh*t.”
“I didn’t mean- I just- ugh I don’t know. I just think my emotions got the best of me at the moment, and then you were just there looking all beautiful as always, but when you got scared of me when I kissed you . . . I just panicked. You gotta believe me, Ariel; I meant no harm.” I stopped in front of him and crossed my arms over my chest as he studied the floor with sudden amazement.
Everyone caught their breath with anticipation of what would happen next . . .
I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a big hug.
“What the. . .” All of the crew gawked, especially Roc whose smirk was completely erased.
“I know what you went through Dylan. With your parents dead at age five and your grandma dying a few months back. You’re just confused right now.”
The tension in his body relaxed as he hugged me back and silent tears strolled down his cheeks. “I’m sorry Ariel.”
“Apology accepted.” I patted his back.
