This is for my people

This is a stage of maturing I must do

I am prepared to do what I must to lead

I am prepared to die for this cause

Sometimes I forget that I am Jalen Erias, The Mir'Dea. The most intelligent tactic for those who do not intend to be harmed is normally not to dive straight into things without some type of game plan, or strategy. In this situation, I have none. The smell of human blood leads my nostrils directly into the heart of my enemies camp.

But are they truly my enemy?

Words that were spoken to me earlier today touched my inner being for some strange reason that I have yet to grasp a hold of. A feeling of familiarity, but also of unsureness.

Were the words of the female Ha'Kai true?

I had no time to ponder over these questions, as in Xiao's well being was my only concern as of the moment.

My eyes at the moment seemed as if they were playing some sort of trick, as I peered my way into a hut that looked as if at any moment it would crumble down upon the earth. The base was sturdy, but the overall architecture of the small home was very unstable. Dried mud, bones and twigs planted the area I scanned, confirming the Ha'Kai used human and animal bones to build their rest areas. What they did with the skin was just as disturbing. Their staffs were coated with the dried flesh of their victims, their skulls placed firmly on the side of their spears and staffs opposite of the tip. The female Ha'Kai's jewelry consisted of teeth and small chinks of bone strung along by strands of long hair, whipped together to form a sturdy necklace, bracelet, or even earrings.

My observations were over. I flipped my way over the wall, crawling slowly to a point where I could see, but not be seen. The high pitched howls of the female Ha'kai were accompanied by the low bass like growls of the males. It seemed as if this was the beginning of their resting period. This is my opportunity. I could smell Xiao.

He is alive!

A sigh of relief passed through my body like an electrical current through old wires. It was a calming relief, but it reminded me of something important. I was definitely new to this. Just some time ago I was still locked up to a cold slab wondering if the darkness I was consumed in would be eternal. The answer, was no. There was a hope, a hope that released me, and I learned what I was to become. All of this in a short period of time, and now I'm playing the role of a savior.

This I am not

At least, not yet

Will I grow to be exactly what they want, what they expect? I am not sure, but the Kalkan tribe needs something to believe in. They need a sense of hope, a light in their own darkness. Today has shown to me that I owe myself that much. I owe these people that much, because they deserve it. This is my resolve.

I am Jalen Erias

The Mir'Dea

The light to this worlds Darkness

I am the Hope
