Is this where I truly place value, my priorities, in something as imperfect as this?
My eyes slowly open to a world of bright lights, eyes keying in on my own to check for any irregularities. Doctor Jenson and Doctor Chillinsky had came into the lab to accompany Doctor Clauson. I could tell they were there by their scent.
Their scent?
It worked!
As my eyes started to adjust, I felt something different within my body. Something that was not there before. As the doctors began to unstrap my body from the slab, a smile started to emerge on Doctor Clausons face.
"Adrian" he spoke out towards me.
"It worked! Stamina levels increased, blood flow is well above the normal percentage, your brain is processing things 100's of times faster! It worked!" he proclaimed excitingly.
Doctor Jenson and Doctor Chillinsky did not share Williams enthusiasm. Instead, they backed away from me with hesitance. The power I felt throughout my body. The changes. Everything felt different. It felt:
SUPERHUMAN
I stepped off of the slab onto the cool ground below. My toes wiggled as they adjusted to the temperature of the surface below. I walked slowly around the room, feeling, sniffing, and noticing different things that I could not have before. I am different. I am unique.
"How do you feel, Adrian?" Doctor Jenson asked in a concerned manner.
I turned around to look at her, a smile could not be removed from my face even if you had tried your absolute hardest to do so.
"Tracy, I feel like I can do anything. I feel so exhilarated! The formula that Doctor Clauson and I came up with has proved to be what we need to move forward with our plans" I replied.
I walked over to grab my lab coat and to look at the screen on my laptop.
"Adrian, I think we can make that phone call to General Bahner now. We finally have something of substance to talk about. Show him that this time, we're not waisting his time," said Doctor Clauson.
I paused to look at him, not sure how to take in what he just offered to me. For many months I knew William had been striking deals with the Government to gain funding for Project Enan. It had been his main focus for as long as I had remembered. His proclamation obviously didn't sit too well with Tracy and Adam either. Their growing concern caused them to finally speak their minds on the matter.
"Adrian, I'm not too sure about having something like this in Government hands. Considering we are the only 4 here at Vega Ent. that really know the complete details about the Enan project, I do not want the others to feel like we have kept them out the loop for our own personal gain."
She continued.
"What would be the point of presenting this to the Government, William? I thought we had agreed a long time ago that the Enan Project would not be for financial gain, or for the influence of Military prowess, but for science and the eventual advancement of mankind" she explained.
She walked over to me, looking very sternly into my eyes. She removed her long blonde hair from over her shoulder, her deep sea-blue eyes sparkled like crystals residing at the floor of the ocean, visible to those who searched for them.
Her voice softened up, still her face pictured a hit of nervousness, and sincerity.
"Adrian, please. Do not do this. Nothing good can come from this, and you know that!"
