Sentenced To Eternity

Chapter 11

Violet's Point of View

This room was barely ever used. The Devil didn't like this room very much. It had paintings of Hell and Heaven on it. They were the paintings from the people who "saw" on Earth. God had given selected artists visions of Heaven and Hell.  Most occurred while they slept, but occasionally they were received while awake.  God believed that he should warn the people of what would happen if they were bad in life.

Though the Devil disagreed.

If people knew what would happen if they were bad he would have less people to torture, and thus less power fore he gained it by the torture he created.

But today he was forced to put us in here. He had to visit the Judges up in Heaven.

No torture could be done without his presence.

As I sat people contined to file in.

The newbies soon began to enter the room.

An old man, a women with an oddly pointed nose, a teenage girl, a man who looked confused, a blond rubbing a new scar on her face, and another old man. The man was probably a politician. They always look slightly confused and reflective.

Wait a moment, a teenage girl?

Do they have no mercy anymore?

Oh wait, that’s right!  They never did have any mercy. . .

 I remembered my sentencing. . .

“But sir, he was attacking her. I couldn't let him do that. She would have died!”

“And then you would have happily seen her in Heaven years later. Now you'll never see her again.” the Judges sat, barely concealing smiles.

Even though I didn't know how the Judges sending an innocent person such as myself was beneficial, I did soon realize.

They had to be getting something for it.

They just took too much pleasure in this.

"Sir I thought acts of defense didn't count ?" I asked, standing slowly from my wobbbly chair.

"We are Judicial Angels. The person being sentenced doesn't get the power of deciding their innocence. We do." The fat bobbling Angel said, rolling his eyes.  Just then I was pushed down into my chair by “magic powers”.

He looked over at a Messenger in the corner.

"Won't you send a suggestion to upgrade Violet Williams? Will you say that from continued evaluation she seems to need more of an obvious message sent to her throughout the program? Thank you, Samuel, and make it speedy if you could," said the Judge, to whom I assumed was Samuel.

He looked back at me with an expression that seemed quite uncharacteristic of Angels.

Remembering that, I knew it was quite safe to say that the Judges would enjoy the Devil's visit today.
