Chapter 13 - The Demons

Alise's Point of View

Swoosh. I felt a soft breeze on my face, so soft and cool. Almost, comforting.

I opened my eyes. I wanted to see a hospital bed, I wanted to see my family and friends again. But no, I'm dead. That was what I wanted. But deep down I knew it would never happen. I'm just hoping, hoping for something that will never happen.

Instead I was on a rock.

A big rock.

How did Satan do it?

I became aware of bandages. All over me. I raised my head to see my hands covered in filthy bandages covered in dirt, blood and. . . other mysterious liquids.

Again, how was he doing this stuff without me even knowing?

They stung like heck. They were on fire, third degree burns, I'd probably be scarred for death.

I winced as I slowly peeled off the bandages. I felt my flesh ripping off my body. The pain was agonizing.

"OOWW!" I screamed as I gave the bandages a hard tug. They flung off and landed next to me. I braced myself, preparing for the worst.

Nothing.

My arms were normal. Completely normal.

Almost, spotless. My pimple was even gone.

Anger built up inside of me. I was dead, I was really dead. That would never happen to a living person.

I looked off into the distance scared of what I would see.  In front of me was a long rocky ground with red steam billowing from it. And on it were demons.

Thousands, millions, even trillions of demons.

They were humans, but. . . deformed.

All moaning and groaning in pain.

They looked horrifying. All outstretched below me they staggered along, walking under some arch.

My hands had hurt so bad that in real life they probably would of had to amputate them, but when the bandages were off. . . nothing.

They had looked fine.

But, who knows how much pain they had endured? This was worse than dying, it was torture. . .

I would rather be strangled to death thousands of times than suffer through this once!

Suddenly a demon stopped and saw me, a woman. She screamed and pointed. Then, they all started climbing the arch towards me.

They pulled out their daggers, spears, and knifes. They were going to kill me, over and over again.

I screamed as the zombie-like demons came closer. Closer and closer.

"No!  Please, please, no!  No, stop, no!  Please, I beg of you, stop!  Please?" I begged.

The woman made it up to me. She inched over, with a stiff limp in her left leg. Others followed her. I screamed in horror.

She smiled a cruel, evil grin.  Her lips popped open, like stitches were cutting open.  Black threads grew from her lips, her red mouth sending an evil feeling into my head.

Then, they saw the bandages.

The woman stopped and stared.  Her lips sealed together again, stitches tied.  I realized her eyes were filled with pain, sympathy, and hope.

She held out her hand. Was she trying to help me up?

What was I to do?

I was so scared. . .

Then, I saw her palm. On it, was a burn. Burned right into the skin.

A Willow.  My Father had told me that was the sign of Heaven.  But it was. . . burning?

The sign of Hell, perhaps?

I held up my palm too, and gasped. A burning willow had been inscribed into my palm.

They out stretched their hands towards me.

"We rose from the ashes of the Burning Willow, on Satan's order. We are the Burning Willow," the demon-woman said in a raspy voice.

Are they. . . on my side?

I hesitated then stood, and raised my palm.
