Chapter 16

Alex's POV

We all sat around the hotel lobby, staring blankly. I sat on the couch beside Kelley, Julie on her other side. My legs were pulled to my chest and I was hugging my travel pillow to my chest. Tobin was sitting on the floor beside my feet, with Carli and Hope sitting on the love seat diagonally from us. We were watching the part of the game, watching everything that happened from the first minute. In the later half, was when the explosion happened. The camera shifted to the fiery and blazing roof. I lifted my hand to cover my mouth, Julie and Kelley beside me also shifting to sit up. "Who.... Did this to us?" Someone said from behind us. It was Jill, I suppose she had slipped in at some point. We all turned, but no one really replied. After a few moments, her phone began to ring. I turned my attention back to the tv, everyone doing the same thing until Jill's conversation started. "Yes this is Coach Ellis. You what? You found my girls?!" I quickly sat up and turned, everyone fighting to get up. "Are they okay?!" Carli asked quickly, along with Julie saying it in the same time. "Yes, make sure they don't move, and they rest. I'll be right there." Jill finished, then hung up. She waved us to follow, all of us rushing to do so.

We got on the bus and drove about 20 minutes to the hospital, then quickly raced eachother to get in the door. "I'm Coach Ellis, here for my girls Jade Silverado and Morgan Brian." Jill said, and the nurse quickly typed something. "If you all will take a seat in the waiting room, a doctor will be out soon to speak with you." She said. I nodded, and was the first to walk over and sit down. Kelley and Tobin sat on either side of me while Morgan, Julie, Hope, Carli, Kriegy and Ash stood near the doors with Jill. Tobin offered me an earbud, which I gladly took and placed it in my right ear facing her. (Play the song now) I listened closely to the words, knowing it was a Christian song. I knew Tobin was religious, and it never bothered me. I at one point was religious as well, and I still believe in Jesus, but I just hadn't gotten into it lately like her and Morgan had. "Jade and I listened to this. It's her favorite song." Tobin said softly, looking down at her phone. It didn't occur to me, but perhaps the reason why the three of them being Tobin, Morgan and Jade hit it off so well is because they're all so well in their walk with God. I smiled slightly, listening into the words. It was a very beautifully sang and just mainly the piano, it was just very touching. Suddenly a doctor came out, and I quickly sat up along with everyone else. "Firstly, it's an honor to have you all here. It's a pleasure to meet you. I just apologize this happened." The lady said, bowing to us. Jill stepped up, and offered a flat smile. "It's not your fault. Things happen. How are my girls?" She spoke, quickly changing the subject. "Ms. Brian is now awake. She has some severe bruising from the impact of the collapsed remains, but she should be fine with plenty of rest. Ms. Silverado on the other hand has been taken into surgery. At some point, a piece of stone had injected into her abdomen area, and very well crushed her ribs along with messed up her back. The doctors are working as we speak to do their best to realign the broken pieces of bone so that it can heal as properly as possible. She also has a fairly severe concussion along with a broken right knee and her left arm as well. From what Morgan has told us, Jade shielded her with her own body. Which would explain the severity of the twos injuries." After the doctor finished explaining, we all took a minute to take this in and digest it. Suddenly, one of us that had stayed silent the entire time spoke. "That doesn't surprise me at all." Becky said, and all of us kinda chuckled. "Can I go see Morgan?" Julie asked after everyone quieted down. "Of course. But I ask not to crowd her room, she's still sort of uneasy. We'll keep you updated with Ms. Jade's operation." The doctor said, before walking Julie and Tobin back to see Morgan.
