Spencer hoisted Eliška onto the helicopter, as if she were weightless. Of course she would have been perfectly able to climb in herself but he had enjoyed lifting her down before, and incidentally it gave him a better view of her long legs in the process.
"You're so strong Spencer." She said approvingly, fluttering her eyelids in what she had hoped would be an alluring fashion but which prompted Spencer to wonder whether she was having an apoplectic fit. She caught the thought and abruptly stopped doing it.
"I must keep myself fit for service." Spencer said. "Is there something wrong with your eyes."
"No I'm fine Spencer!" She said petulantly, annoyed and disappointed that it hadn't had the desired effect she had read that men really liked fluttering eyelids and it had taken her weeks to perfect the technique in front of a cracked and blackened mirror.
"We need to go to old Halite mine now Boris," Spencer told the pilot.
"But that is in middle of Naval base?" Boris asked.
"I am fully aware of this... but this time we have been invited!" Spencer replied. "Their commander used to mend this exact model of Sikorsky."
"Well there definitely is something wrong with this old girl." Boris said. "Which could be bad for us if she fails!"
"That is exactly why we are going." Spencer said. "So we need to find out if she can be fixed quickly."
"And what if she can't be fixed?"
"Well as always if you are late picking him up he isn't going to be pleased and spare won't be repaired until next month." Spencer said, "so if she will fly at all then you will have to fly. You can leave me and Eliška at mine and once it's fixed then go back in case old man needs you."
"Simply why do you want to stay at mine?" Boris asked. "I heard that it was haunted."
"Oh yes! Mine is haunted it does terrible things to people!" Eliška said as she settled herself into the seat next to Spencer. She made a big play of crossing her legs to ensure that the skirts of her short dress rose as high as possible so that Spencer had the maximum view of her thighs as possible and braced herself for take off. "But I feel much braver than usual with Spencer next to me."
Spencer was clearly complimented by the remark but Boris chuckled to himself but chose not to comment, he liked Spencer but having him aboard had never made him feel any safer. "Love is blind and there is nothing blinder than young love." He thought.
Eliška was pleased to see out through the larger windscreen as her view had been quite restricted before. "It all looks so different from up here. Look there's my house," Suddenly she started, "Wait what are they doing to my poor little house?"
"They are replacing it with a sounder, more modern structure." Spencer said, "Sir Percy in one of his less clement moods, demanded that they all be demolished. What he did not say was whether to replace what you had with some thing more substantial. He is always saying that I ought to use my initiative and this time I did."
"That was clever of you." Eliška said, "But I don't know what my auntie will think of this. It won't be a safe situation. She has stuff stored underground."
Eliška thought that this was a moot point if they didn't stop count Mikula from blowing the dam.
"No the men have been told to take the utmost care of your aunt." Spencer said.
"No Auntie Sacha is in no danger." Eliška's said, "No you've got it all wrong. I'm not worried about Auntie Sacha. I'm worried about what Auntie Sacha will do to your men."
