I opened my front door and went through the front door, this time on time and not an hour late.
I closed the front door behind me, walking into the kitchen to where I found my mom humming to the tunes of her IPod as she loaded dishes into the dishwasher.
As I stepped into the kitchen, Walker made his way to float over onto one of the stools, sitting down on top of them with his legs crossed.
My mom turned as I walked into the kitchen, giving me a small smile before she took the earbuds out of her ears and placed a plate in the dishwasher, "You look like you need something?"
"Hmm?" I rose my eyebrows.
My mother smiled, loading a glass cup into the top rack, "You look like you want something from me, whether it's something from the store or permission to do something."
I sighed, my shoulders slumping.
I don't know how moms do that, read their kid's minds. It was actually kinda freaky if you thought about it.
But I took a breath before replying to her, "Yeah mom, I was actually wondering if I could go to Link's house. He's having a band practice and he also needs help in putting up flyers for his concert."
My mother raised her eyebrows, "Is this the boy that you were walking with a few days ago that made you late coming home?"
I slowly nodded, "Yeah, that's him."
She let out a sigh, sitting on the stool that Walker wasn't sitting in, "I don't know Audrey, you never seemed to have any friends you wanted to hang out with and suddenly there's this boy that you want to go over to his house."
"It's not just going to be me and him mom," I let out a sigh, "There's going to be three other guys plus another girl."
My mom scrunched her face in thought, putting a hand on her chin. She seemed to be considering all the options and all the negative effects this could have on me.
Finally after a few minutes she looked back up at me with a sigh, "Okay, but I'll have to meet his mother first to make sure there's a responsible parent supervising you." She then stood up, walking over to the counter and picking up her black hand bag, "Do you have his address?"
"I can call him, just give me a second," I pulled my phone out of my jacket pocket and went to his contact, pressing on his name before holding my phone up to my ear. I heard the dull ringing three times before he answered.
"Hello? Is this my dear friend Audrey?"
I sighed, "Hey Link, I can come to your house. What's your address so I can get my mom to drive me there."
"Oh yeah, I didn't tell you that during school." There was a brief period of static where it sounded like he was rolling around, "It's 324 Oakland Drive. It's the neighborhood behind where the water tower is."
"Okay, I'll be there in five minutes," I knew the place pretty well, I'm sure my mom wouldn't even need directions.
"See ya Audrey."
The call then ended and I turned to look at my mother who was gazing at me with question. "He lives at 324 Oakland Drive. He's in the neighborhood behind the water tower." I said, repeating the information that Link provided me with.
My mother's eyes lit up in recognition, "Oh you mean Hillrise? Alright, that's not to far from here at all."
My mother made her way to the garage door and walked inside. I made my way to follow her, smiling at Walker before he lept off the stool and floated to the ground to follow me.
