Kate's POV

Her words repeat in my mind as I sit through my classes. Who are you trying to convince? Me or you? Over and over again. No, I probably just like her as a person for protecting me, even though it's just gonna get me in even more trouble than it was to begin with. But her smirk... it sends chills down my spine. Just her smirk. If just a facial expression did that, I hope to god she doesn't touch me.

I walk out to the busses and see her sitting with her head up against the window with her earbuds in. She stands up and makes me take the inside of the seat when she saw me.

"Why are you making me sit here?" My words of curiosity slipped past my lips.

"Because then that asshole can't touch you." Catie spoke in an irritated tone.

"Catie I'm fine." I sighed as I sat down where she told me.

"I don't care." She said with a huff and plopped back down in the seat with her keys hitting the seat, making a loud clashing noise. Her shoulder grazed mine and I froze. A smirk appeared on her face as she looked at me from the corner of her eye. Catie's leather jacket brushed my arm as she took it off, revealing her built arms, and I'm pretty sure she caught me staring because she chuckled a little before putting her earbuds back in. I blushed and looked out the window. Her words began to repeat in my head once again like a broken record.

As my brother trotted up the steps of the bus my eyes locked onto the huge welt on his face. He glared at me and Catie caught him doing it. She flashed her teeth like a dog and sat up a little, which I found funny, but a cute kind of funny; my brother on the other hand found it terrifying. He quickly sat down in the front if the bus, which made Catie smirk victoriously. How in the world did he get that welt?

"It's from when I hit him this morning."

"W-what?"

"You thought out loud." Catie let out a light chuckle.

"Oh, sorry."

"It's fine, I think it's cute." She continued to lightly chuckle.

I blushed again, due to her flirting with me for the one hundredth time today, which only made her smirk for the one thousandth time today.

She slid her black beanie on and took one earbud out. The one on my side to be exact.

She rested her head on the back of the nasty fake leather seat and closed her eyes.

"If he ever touches you again, you tell me immediately." She spoke in a deeper tone while holding out a piece of paper with a phone number on it. Her eyes still closed.

"O-okay"

"Don't worry, I'll handle it." She said as she got comfortable for the hour and a half ride home.

I jolted a little when I felt someone rubbing my leg, but calmed when I saw it was Catie.

"Kate your home." She said with a small smile as I noticed that I fell asleep on her shoulder.

I shot up and shrugged it off, so I can act like it never happened even though it did which is embarrassing, but it was comforting.
