POV: Catie
I know Kate is distracting me on purpose. Ever since I've been able to move around more, she's been distracting me and doing whatever she can to make me trip up.
"Whatcha doing?" Kate snapped me out of my thoughts as she wrapped her arms around my waist.
"Thinking."
"About?" She looked up at me over my shoulder.
"How you keep distracting me, on purpose." I said the last part in a more annoyed tone.
She simply laughed in my shoulder.
"We've got school tomorrow and it's late." I tried to change the subject as I rolled out of her arms and started to walk towards the steps.
Her quick footsteps caught up to me and ran right in front of my path at the bottom of the staircase.
"Kate..." I said in a warning tone with my eyebrows raised.
"Yes?" She gave me an innocent look.
"It's time for bed."
"But what if I want to have some... fun... before bed?" She said in a seductive tone before walking up the stairs.
I know she's just teasing me. The same way she has been for the past week.
I trotted up the steps and walked into my room to see Kate slowly taking her shirt off.
"Kate, I need to go to bed." I groaned.
"Go for it. I'm just changing." She smirked at me as my eyes raked up and down her body.
I snapped out of my gaze and took my shirt off as I walked past her before crawling into bed, facing away from her.
"Can you hand me my clean bra? It's right beside you on the floor." Kate asked in a seductive tone.
"Nope," I popped the 'p.'
"But my hands are full." She said in a pouty voice.
"What is in your hands that is making them so occupied?"
"Turn around and see for yourself." I could hear the smirk in her voice as she spoke.
"It's nearly one in the morning Kate." I groaned.
"Fine, no bra it is." She jumped into bed beside me and pressed her chest to my back.
"Go-goodnight." I stuttered out.
"Goodnight." She kissed the back of my neck once before leaving me alone to sleep.

"I know I saw him." I muttered under my breath as I look out the window in math class.
"Catie, you're just paranoid. Everything is okay." Kate tried to calm me down, but I know I saw Jake. I know I did.
"I saw him. I know I did." I said in a lower tone.
She sighed beside me and rested her head on my shoulder. We have a substitute today, so all we had to do was do the worksheet which took me all of five minutes and then I gave Kate my answers so she could chill too.
The substitute is literally passed out and snoring, nor would she know if we left but whatever. That is the least of my worries right now.
I know I saw Jake. I know I did. He was wearing a black shirt.
"This is a code red! I repeat, this is a code red! This is not a drill! We are on lockdown!" The front desk lady said over the inner com.
The sub shot up and locked the door before closing the blinds.
"Everyone needs to get in the corner." The sub whisper yelled.
Kate curled up in my side.
"It's Jake." I whispered to her before standing up with her at my side.
She nodded as she walked with me at my side.
The only sound that has been going on for the past sixty seconds or so are gunshots. The police are going to be awhile. I know they are.
It may be more than one person or only one, but what I do know is that there is more than one gun.
"Come out come out wherever you are Little Sis!" Jake's familiar voice filled my ears as he yelled from the hallway.
"And your little lesbian friend!" Another guy said from outside the door. More than likely one of his friends that helped him stab me nearly to death.
"We are going to just keep on killing till you two come out!" Jake yelled.
"Or at least the lesbian lover!" A completely different guy yelled throughout the school.
"Don't you dare, Catie." Kate whispered to me.
I have to do it. If I don't, it will put everyone else's life in danger.
"Catie, no." She said in a more stern voice.
"If I don't, they will keep killing." I replied in a softer voice.
"Catie, I can't live without you. Can you not wrap your stubborn head around that? If you die, my heart is gone as well as my future, hope, and life. You stay with me damnit." Tears began to stream down her face as she spoke.
"If you were me, would you do it?" I asked her with furrowed eyebrows.
Her only answer was another tear running down her cheek.
I cupped her cheeks before pulling her into a soft and slow kiss. Like it would be the last time I got to kiss her.
When I heard another gun shot, I pulled away and then stood up.
"Stay in this classroom or so help me God!" The substitute whisper yelled at me.
"I'm the one they are looking for and I can handle myself." I took off my jacket. "Lock it behind me and don't let anyone else in or out." I gave her a look and she slowly nodded her head.
As I walked towards the door, Kate's cries got a little louder, so I turned around to her and gave her a sad smile before slowly and quietly opening the door.
"We'll keep killing till you come out!" Jake yelled.
I closed the door behind me and walked towards the sound of Jake's voice with confidence and a strange lack of fear.
"Ah, there you are." Jake said in a sickening tone has he walked around the corner with a metal bat in his hands that was covered in blood.
"What do you want Jake?" I snarled.
"You to be dead." He shrugged as one of his friends walked to his side with a rifle in his grasp.
"Then go ahead and shoot me. I won't stop you." I taunted.
"That's too easy. This bat here... has your name all over it." Jake said with a smirk as he began to twirl it a bit before slowly stalking towards me. "And I am going to bash your brains out with it as your little girlfriend watches and listens to you scream." He then pointed over my shoulder to Kate who was now handcuffed and had tape over her mouth.
"I got her." The third guy that stabbed me held Kate up as she tried to get out of his grasp. "She came willingly." He then ripped the tape off of her.
"What the fuck were you thinking?" I yelled at her. "I told you not to follow me!" Panic started to surge through my body as I frantically looked for a way to get Kate out of this.
"You die, I die." Kate said as tears began to stream down her face.
"Oh how sweet. Too bad it's time for games. Load them up in the truck boys." As soon as Jake said those words, handcuffs met my wrists and tape went over my mouth before I was tranquilized and thrown over someone's shoulder.
"Let's have some fun."
