POV: Kate
"What the fuck do you mean he got bailed out? Him and his friends? Are you fucking kidding me? You're joking, right?" I shot up to Catie yelling downstairs.
I glance at the clock to see it just barely hitting two in the morning.
"Catie, breathe, they're expelled and not allowed anywhere near the school, so she's safe." Her mom's softer voice filled the silent house.
"The school is one place in this world. She isn't safe anywhere now!" Catie's voice cracked and I got up out of bed, put my hair in a bun, and slipped one of her sweatshirts on before quietly trotting down the steps.
"You and I both know that you are the equivalent to a brick wall and as long as you are there she isn't getting hit. You can protect her, Catie. I know you can." Her father attempted to calm her.
"I'm not fucking superman. I can only stop a speeding bullet once you know." She commented sarcastically.
"I didn't say you were superman, but you are Captain America. Think about it. Selfless, badass, built, protective, strong, intimidating, but deep down a good person." Her father stated as I rounded the corner and wrapped my arms around Catie from behind and buried my face in her back before taking a deep breath.
"What are you doing up?" Catie asked me softly, slightly looking over she shoulder.
"I heard yelling and you weren't beside me, so I got worried." I answered back in the same soft tone.
"I'm sorry for waking you." She mumbled in an apologetic tone.
"Don't be, and I'm not worried about them. I know you'll do whatever it takes to protect me. I'm not scared. I trust you." She turned around in my arms and gave me a sad smile before a quick peck on the lips.
"Can you two stop being so damn adorable? I mean really." Catie's mom said from behind Catie.
Catie simply scoffed before turning to face her mother, but standing beside me. "I can do a lot more than be cute." She said cockily before winking at me.
"Okay, too far. I'm going to bed now. Yup, too far. Come on Samuel." Catie's mom said in a grossed out tone before leaving the kitchen with Catie's dad who gave Catie a high five as he walked past us which caused Catie to laugh a little and me to continue to blush like crazy.
"Wanna know what I can do other than be cute?" She smirked at me.
"I think I know what." I winked at her before trotting up the steps. I know she is looking at my ass too, because she does it every time. "Almost done staring at my ass?" I teased.
"Nope," she popped the 'p' when she spoke before joining me up the stairs. Her steps were a little bit slower than mine, but she was still getting stronger. Even though I'm pretty sure she's rushing her recovery, and now she'll rush it even more to be fit to protect me. It will be even worse if she gets hurt again, but now I know that I really can't stop her.

"You are not allowed to leave my side at all for any reason." Catie ordered as she opened my door for me so we could walk inside.
"I won't, I promise." I gave her a reassuring smile before taking her hand in mine and heading towards the building.
"I want to get inside as soon as possible." Catie mumbled underneath her breath as she picked up her pace.
I nodded and matched her pace.
"Kate, can you answer number ten on the board please?" My history teacher asked with a pencil behind his ear. I looked over at Catie and she mouthed 'no' to me.
"You are not to leave my side." She quietly mumbled to me as she had her eyes locked onto her worksheet.
"Just for two seconds?" I looked at her with puppy eyes.
"Fine," Catie muttered through gritted teeth before looking up from her paper and watching my every move and the door like a hawk.
I quickly wrote it down before retreating to my seat that was right beside Catie. She literally won't let me out of a five foot radius from her. That was the first time all day.
"No more," Catie growled quietly.
"Okay, okay. Just chill." I put my hands up in a surrendering way and she only ran her hands through her hair before hiding her face in them and taking a deep breath.
"I just don't want you to get hurt again." She looked at me with hurt eyes before getting ahead of the class by working on the other sheets.
"I won't. They aren't even allowed on school grounds, so how would they get to me here?" My eyebrows furrowed as I spoke.
"You'd be surprised." Catie laughed sarcastically.
"I'm not gonna stay by your side all day if you're gonna be a bitch about it." I snapped at her before scooting my seat a bit further from her and putting my earbuds in.
She looked at me with pleading eyes, begging for me to take my earbuds out, but she needs to learn what she's doing.
Catie put her hand on my knee, so I scooted even further and she slowly went back to looking at her paper, but not working on it. Just zoned out.
"I'm sorry." Catie said in a soft tone as we get into her mom's car. She let us borrow it so we didn't have to deal with anyone on the bus. Catie's bike is fixed, but she is scared to have me on it. She doesn't trust me to hold on to say the least.
"It's fine, you just gotta stop being so strict about it. I'm gonna stay by your side and be safe, so just chill. I never left your sight. All I did was answer a question on the damn board and you still got pissed. Do you know how ridiculous that is?" My tone was filled with more aggravation as I spoke each word.
"Yeah, I do and I'm sorry." She mumbled as she crossed her arms and put them against the steering wheel.
"Let's get going." I muttered as I looked out the window, watching the rain hit the concrete.
"Can you please look at me?" She begged so I turned to face her with tears streaming down her face.
"Babe, why are you crying?" My tone got softer and I leaned in towards her more.
"I don't mean to be like this. I'm just over protective, and I can't help it. I'm sorry." She started to cry harder, so I pulled her to my chest and let her cry in my shoulder for about five minutes before she calmed down and started to take us home.
"What are you doing?" I questioned Catie as she fiddled with every window in the house.
"I'm setting up a security system. I already put up the cameras, hooked up the doors, and put motion sensors around the property that turn on once it gets dark." She said calmly as she snapped something in place.
"Oh," I stayed relatively quiet, but stayed there because I wanted attention.
"Yeah, but I'm done as of right now. What do you need?" She looked around the room, looking at her work, before looking back at me.
"Cuddles would be great right now." I gave her the biggest smile I have to convince her to come lay in bed with me.
"But I got-" I cut her off.
"Please?" I gave her my puppy eyes that she can't say no to which earned a groan before she picked me up and took me to her room and laid in bed with me.
"Happy?" She sighed with a smile.
"Yeah, I'm more important than your fancy things." I kissed her neck.
"Well, the fancy things are to help me protect you, but I only have to add one more on the stairwell now that I think about it." She started to rant. She does it every time she thinks out loud and it's so fucking adorable.
"I'm okay as long as I'm with you." I softly kissed her on the lips and she immediately kissed back, but just as soft as me.
