Catie's POV
I opened her door and helped her out. Kate waited with her weight against the hood of the car to keep herself up as I grabbed her stuff and locked the car before I walked back to her and wrapped an arm around her waist to keep as much weight off of her feet as possible.
My free hand grasped the door to the house and slowly twisted it in attempt to not wake anyone up. I made sure to practically lift her up by her waist with my arm that was wrapped around it. We stepped inside and I immediately locked the door behind us.
"My room is this way." I whispered, hoping to not wake my parents. I'll tell my mom in the morning.
I quietly walked over to the stairs as she limped over with my arm around her waist.
"Can you get up the steps?"
"Y-yeah." She mumbled in a pained voice.
She took the first step and nearly fell, but I caught her and pulled her to my chest.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, t-thanks, y-you can let go."
"Are you sure you can get up the steps? You nearly fell." I asked carefully. I barely know her and I don't want her to feel pressured into relying on me.
"Probably." She sighed in a defeated tone, obviously not believing her statement.
"It's okay. I'll carry you. No worries." I tried to ease her nerves.
"No, I can walk."
She took another step and nearly fell again. I of course caught her, but I put her stuff down before sweeping her off her feet and she carefully rested her head on my chest as I carried her up the wooden stairs that just love to creak.
I carefully placed her on my bed and tucked her in before closing the blinds to keep the street light from getting in. It doesn't bother me any, but she more than likely has a headache from the stress.
"I'll take the floor." I grumbled because I really just wanted to sleep with her. Not in a sexual way, but to just know she's there and she isn't back at her toxic home.
I walked back downstairs to grab her stuff, but when I turn the corner I see my mom with her arms crossed.
"Who is she?" My mom quirked a brow.
"A friend of mine that needed a place to stay for the night. Her family is extremely abusive and she was just beat. Please let her stay." I begged her in a whisper. I don't need Kate worrying about more than what she already is.
"Okay, I don't mind. If she needs something let me know." She shrugged as she walked back into her room. "Make sure your father doesn't find out."
My mom knows that I'm gay, but my dad on the other hand doesn't. He would probably flip the hell out, but I'll cross that bridge when I need to. Even though she is only here to stay out of the house she was in, he'd still connect dots more than likely.
I walk back into my room and grab the spare pillows and blanket from my closet, tossing them on the floor next to the bed before taking my shirt off and laying down on the cold wooden floor. Real comfy.
As soon as I began to fall asleep my eyes shot open as I heard her voice.
"Catie?" She said softly.
"Yes?" I asked with my eyes barely open.
"C-can y-you hold me?"
I nearly screamed yes but kept my cool. I get up and got under the blankets. I pulled her to my chest. I could feel her breath on my neck as she snuggled herself to me.
