POV: Catie

I'm nearly positive that my wounds are getting infected. I'm sweating, definitely have a fever, and I keep on getting chills. This isn't good, and Kate knows it too which makes the clock tick even faster.

The longer we stay here, the longer she will blame herself.

She produced enough saliva from crying to make the tape fall off, so she's been apologizing to me every five seconds even though I'd go through worse if it meant I got to be with her.

"I've got a deal ladies." Jake said as he walked back into the room with a cup of coffee in one hand and the keys to my shackles in the other.

"What in the hell do you want now?" I spat at him, giving him the nastiest look I could muster. If looks could kill he'd be dead nine times over.

"If you break up with her, I'll let you go and she stays, but if you don't, you both stay and I'll kill you. But if you break up with her to come and rescue her, I'll kill her and then you." Jake smirked at me as he sipped his coffee.

"I will never leave her." I spat.

"Oh so sweet. Too bad it's gonna get you killed." He sighed. "I've got another deal. If you get into a relationship with my friend and break up with her, you can go. Someone will still love you." He shrugged as if it was the key to solving all of the world's problems.

"You just don't get it, do you? I love her too much to leave her. I get that you're stupid, but damn, that's a special kind of stupid." I laughed to show I wasn't scared. "Why don't you fight me like a man and we can battle to the death instead of shooting me? Whoever wins gets to walk out of the house, whoever doesn't, doesn't. Simple as that." I smirked as I knew I got him thinking.

"I like my way better." He shrugged it off in attempt to hide the real reason why he won't. He knows good and well that I can, and will kick his ass.

"Is it because you know I'll kick your ass?" I said with a satisfied smirk.

"Yes, but whatever." He laughed at my attempt before snatching the keys to unchain me.

"Are you sure you don't want to? I'm pretty weak from infection." I tried to barter with him as he began to undo the shackles. I fell to the floor to pretend that I was that weak so it would seem more appealing to him.

"I'll think about it." Jake said as he pulled me to my feet and turned his back to me.

This is my chance...

I quietly and quickly grabbed the whip off of the shelf that was behind him and got up behind him before wrapping it around his neck.

"You will be opening that door for us, as well as giving me your truck keys. If you don't, I'll kill you right now. Where is the gun you had?" I whispered in his ear and loosened my grip a little so he could tell me the location of the gun.

"In the cabinet above the sink." He choked out.

I brought the whip together with my free hand before taking the handcuffs out of his back-pocket and handcuffing him to the whipping post.

I then quickly grabbed the keys and freed Kate from her restraints before pulling her to my chest.

"You have no idea how bad I've been wanting to do this." I took a deep breath in her neck as she cried happy tears in my shoulder. "Let's get the hell out of here. We'll wait in the truck till the police get here. You call the police and tell them to track his phone while I get the gun and start the truck, but you stay with me the whole time." I instructed her calmly before pulling away and running to get the gun before going back into the room so I could get the keys to the truck from his pockets. "What is the code to the door asshole?" I asked through gritted teeth as I stared him in the eyes.

"It's my mother's birthday." He said weakly before I punched him in the face will all of my strength that I currently have. The infection is making me weaker and weaker by the minute.

Kate nodded before running to the door and unlocking it which caused me to audibly sigh in relief.

"You're gonna have fun in prison. Beating girls are against their morals in a bad way. I give you a week to live once you get to the pods." I said with a smirk as I could tell that I was getting to him before getting up and walking weakly to the truck and locked the door once Kate got in with me.

"We did it baby." I held her hand in mine tightly before sitting my head back against the headrest. "I'm really tired." I let out a yawn.

"No no no, you gotta stay awake." She started to panic.

"Just a quick nap." I said in a whisper.

"When we get home you can take all of the naps you want, but I need you to stay up with me for now. I might have a panic attack so I need you to stay up." She started to cry. I know the real reason why she wanted me to stay awake, but it's getting to the point where I can barely keep my eyes open.

"Did you tell them we're gonna need an ambulance too?" I asked as I looked over at her.

"Yes, they're on their way. The dispatch lady told me that they'll be here within the next ten minutes. We're right around the corner from the sheriffs department. It's right down the road, but no one was currently there, but close so they'll be here to help us soon." She tried her best to keep me talking so I would stay awake, but I could fall asleep standing up at this point.

The lack of blood is making me frozen as an ice cube, the infection is making me even colder as well as heating me up to an unbearable temperature at random, and the infection is also literally taking the life out of me. I don't know how much longer I can go.

"They've been looking for us for the past few days. They got the other two in custody because of the video cameras and he will be right with them here soon." Kate spoke to me as I started to fade in and out. "Come on baby, stay with me for just a few more minutes." She begged as the sound of sirens woke me up.

An ambulance surrounded by police cars sped down the dirt road so I opened the door and fell out of the truck. Kate ran to my side and helped me up as the EMS team brought out the stretcher.

"We gotta stop meeting like this." I let out a weak laugh before doing my best to get on the stretcher so the team didn't struggle too much.

"You said he was in the house right?" A police officer ran back out of the house and saw my back and quickly looked away in return.

"Yeah, Catie chained him to the pole so he couldn't get away." Kate informed him with furrowed eyebrows.

"Someone call the K-9 units. Both the bite dogs and the search dogs. We're gonna find him." With that him and another officer took off in the woods with their guns drawn.

My vision started to get blurrier... and blurrier... before it all went black the last words I heard were from Kate.

"I love you, and if you die on me, I'll kill you."
