Winter Soldier
We were still standing, staring at each other. It was quiet. A little too quiet."If we're going to get started, you'll need to lose the bag." I said, breaking the silence. He listened and took it off.
That was a change. I was the one giving orders this time. He was still standing there quietly.
"You don't talk much, do you?" I asked. He just shook his head. At least he did something beside staring.
"We better get started. First things first, how to throw a punch." I said. "Let's see what you got." I said, pointing to the punching bag. He walked up to it and threw a swing at it.
"There are a few things wrong with that technique. First, you only put your arm into it. You have to use your body too. You also have to square up." I said, showing him how to use your body and square up. "Second, you don't keep your fist tight. You have to make it tight." I continued, making a tight fist. "Last, you take your time. You have to be fast with it." I finished.
"Like this." I said and squared up to the punching bag. I threw four punches, almost breaking the punching bag on the last hit. "Try again." I said, gesturing to the bag.
He squared up and threw three punches. "Your still not using your body. Do it like this." I said, throwing a punch into the air. He did the same thing. "Good. Now, do it on the punching bag." He obeyed and did it on the bag.
"Better." I said. "Now let's practice kicking. Kick the punching bag." I ordered. Then he kicked it.
"Same thing with your body. You have to put it into the kick. It'll make it harder." I said as I demonstrated my kick. He kicked it again, this time using his body.
"Now do both." I demanded him. He turned to the bag and did two punches and three kicks. He was pretty good for a kid his age."For the rest of the day we'll do some exercising drills. So drop and give me twenty push ups." I said, pointing to the ground. He dropped to the ground and started doing the push ups. He did them in about twenty-five seconds.
"Now do thirty sit ups." I ordered. Then he started doing the sit ups. The good thing about the kid not being such a talker was that he didn't complain.
He did those in about forty seconds. "Last, twenty combos." I said and showed him how. He looked amazed about it. It was weird to have someone look at me like that. Then he quickly did those too.
"That's it for the day. Expect tomorrow to be worse though." I said before the guard walked in to take the boy. He grabbed his bag and left. Shortly after, Karpov came for me.
"I hope today wasn't bad." He said as we left the training room. Like usual, I didn't say anything.
We just kept on our way to my room. Finally, we got there. Karpov walked me in.
"See you tomorrow soldier." He said before he left, locking the door behind him.
I was alone again. I didn't mind the loneliness though. Especialy when I get to see someone every day now.
