It all started with Jake jokingly sending an encoded message to Dirk to feel like a character in one of his movies. It escalated so quickly that Jake has given up, but Dirk occasionally sends Jake short messages that take hours to decipher. Usually they're something cute, but it's not unusual for the messages to be ironic.
