I sat alone for dinner.

Gabriel sat with Lucifer this time but he seemed to keep glancing over at me with apologetic guilt in his eyes. Dean was sitting opposite LaFitte, as always, and occasionally our eyes accidentally caught each other's before quickly looking away again.

Eventually, I got fed up of the "food" in front of me so I ditched the canteen and wandered hopelessly around the hallway with stress and boredom.

It didn't take too long for a familiar hand to be placed on my shoulder from behind me. Instantly, I knew who it was.

Sighing hastily, I turned around to be faced with Dean. I had to draw in a quiet, sharp breath because I kept forgetting how breathtaking he looked closeup. Not that I was studying his facial features every time I saw him with fascination or anything...

"Hey Cas, listen", Dean started, looking down at the floor and shuffling uncomfortably as if he was nervous, "I'm sorry for asking too many questions earlier. I was just concerned, you know?"

"I wasn't mad at you", I quickly replied, "Don't worry about it".

"Cas", Dean spoke softly.

Every time he said my name, I always felt a chill run through my body. He said it in such a reassuring and quiet tone, unlike how any other person has ever spoken to me with.

"You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to", Dean started, "But you can, okay? Just don't feel like I won't understand. I've seen a lot of shit".

In the corner of my eye, I saw Gabriel walk past us and shoot me a suggestive look with a smirk, looking between Dean and I, before hurriedly exiting. Luckily, Dean didn't notice.

"Can we just get out of here?" I found myself asking, staring around at everyone else with annoyance.

Dean raised his eyebrows and tried to hide a smile.

"You seem to love getting me on my own, Cas", Dean joked with a wink, the tension between us suddenly disappearing.

"You're the one who started it!" I argued defensively but with a laugh.

"Yeah, yeah", Dean muttered, leading the way outside and allowing his shoulder to stay touching mine as we walked, "Believe what you wanna believe. You want me".

"Are you always this full of yourself?" I asked, my smile widening when he looked mock-offended.

I exhaled happily when we reached the outdoor air and a misty cloud of air escaped my mouth due to the icy cold weather. I always preferred the cold to the heat.

Dean looked up at the sky with a gleam in his eyes and a half smile as he walked beside me, his hands placed casually in his pockets as usual. I wished I could have taken some kind of mental picture of him at that exact moment. He just looked so peaceful and relaxed. Almost casual enough to remind me of the real outside world. He looked as if he didn't have a single bad thought inside his head and it made me forget about the fact I was in prison for just one second.

We walked to our usual spot, the area behind the greenhouse, and Dean regained his normal posture as he leant against the wall. His hands left his pockets and I braced myself but instead was surprised to see him empty handed.
