Kyoya takes me into an elevator with a couple of bags of luggage.
"So why won't I see Subaru or Aito that much?" I ask curiously as the elevator doors slide open on the third floor.
"I'll show you why." He takes out a card and slides it over a card reader on the door at the end of the hall. A light flickers green and we open the door. Everything is white except the light blue curtains and matching bed sheets. Opposite my bed is a white painted wooden table with a black tv on top. Kyoya lightly places the luggage on the bed and picks up a remote from the side. When he presses a certain button, the tv flickers to life and with a press of another button, we end up on the music channel. The channel seems to be live broadcasting a concert of some kind but I don't really recognise the singer.
"Who's that?" I ask.
"That's Subaru Takagawa, our brother." He explains. I stare wide-eyed at the screen and I can't help but gape at the scene.
"Is he going to be living with us when he's not on tour?" I then question. Kyoya lightly chuckles and nods.
"Indeed." At first, I don't believe Kyoya but to me he doesn't look like the person who would joke around about this sort of stuff often. Me going from homeless to living with a celebrity and seven other boys? Who would've thought?
"What about Aito?" I ask curiously.
"Oh, he's an athlete in Canada at the moment. He'll be home in a few months" Kyoya answers.
"Would you like some help unpacking?" He then asks me politely.
"Uh...no I think I've got it but thanks." I reply. He smiles and nods, leaving me alone in my room. I have three boxes of luggage so I don't really need help. The layout of the apartment complex is great. The first floor is for the kitchen, living room and dining room. The second and third floor have 5 rooms each. I love it here already (despite living with all boys but it'll do). My room is so quiet until it's interrupted by a knock at the door. I call for them to come in.
"Oh, hello Koji!" I say. Koji smiles and waves, inviting himself in and on my bed.
"I just wanted to check up on you Aya-chan!" He replies. I frown and turn to him.
"What did you just call me?" The smile on his face fades and an awkward expression replaces it.
"A-Aya-chan." He repeats. I shake my head and shrug, not knowing what to say the the ten year old.
"Are you living with us?" He questions.
"Yup." I respond. His smile returns and I smile, too. Sunlight pours in through a crack in the curtain.
"Naoki should be home soon. You should say hello when he does!" Koji cheerfully adds.
"What's Naoki's job?" I ask, putting away my belongings while holding conversation with Koji.
"Naoki is a lawyer. He's really really smart. He's also a great cook so he's usually the one that cooks around here but he's always home quite late." Koji murmurs the last sentence as if he's disappointed. I snap my fingers, which catches his attention, and turn to face him.
"How about I make dinner tonight, yeah?" I suggest. At this, Koji's eyes light up and he nods.
"Great. Well, I'll start once I put this all away." Koji excitedly runs out of the room and moments later, I hear another knock.
"It seems we have a chef cooking for us tonight, sweetheart." When I look I see Ryo posing at the door. He asks me if I need help but I refuse.
"So Koji is telling everyone?" I ask, continuing to fold away clothes.
"Yes he is rather excited. As am I, though." He adds. He invites himself into my room and walks over to me, leaning on my shoulder.
"Glad to hear." I say. I pack away the last of my tops and head out the room, Ryo in tow. We talk about our interests and favourite subjects at school while we take the elevator down the the ground floor.
"So you like art?" Ryo asks me.
"Yeah, art and English are the only things I seem to be good at in school." I answer. Ryo laughs and I frown, asking him what's so funny.
"I doubt those are your only talents. Anyway, Hikaru will be happy to hear you're good at art." The elevator does slide open with a ting and we exit and begin to head to the kitchen.
"Hikaru likes art?"
"Yeah, his manga is in the weekly newspaper." Ryo follows me into the kitchen, offering to help me cook something. We raid the cupboards and find spaghetti, tomato sauce and beef mince.
"Perfect! Well just have meatballs, right?" I suggest, putting the ingredients to one side of the counter.
"Sure, we all like meatballs." Ryo and I glance at each other, huge childish grins on our faces before we burst into laughter.
"You two are such children." Kyoya says, sitting on the couch and reading the newspaper. Walls did not separate the rooms on the ground floor so you could easily talk to someone in the kitchen from the dining table or living room. I apologise for laughing at the 'innuendo' but I'm interrupted by a slam of the door.
