I can't see anything.
I try to move but it seems my hands are tied by rope behind my back and I'm seated on a wooden chair of some kind. I try to get up but my feet are cuffed to the legs of this chair. The smell of damp material is strong and it makes me gag (and no, I'm not referring to the actual gag in my mouth). The taste of that unwashed cloth is sickly and strong. I begin to panic, shaking around in my cuffs and rope.
Have I been kidnapped now?
At that moment, the bag over my head gets ripped off and I can see, but not much. The room is only lit by a small, dim lightbulb. By using this light I notice the walls have no wallpaper and if it did, it certainly is peeling off. Cockroaches and other horrific insects scatter freely across the floor and walls. The only sound is the echoing sound of water dripping and when I breathe, it's so cold I can see my breath escape through the gaps in the cloth. Across the room I notice someone else.
No...it couldn't be...
Koji?
My eyes widen and I try to call out for him but the rag in my mouth stops me. Fortunately (yet unfortunately) a hand viciously rips out the rag and I'm free to breath and talk.
"Koji!" I gasp, grabbing his attention. He looks at me wide-eyed, his face stained with tears.
"I'm so scared..." he whispers. I nod and try and reassure him but a harsh voice stops me.
"Koji Takagawa..." the low voice says.
"I deeply apologise. I was too busy with two other people to focus on what you owe me." The source of the voice emerges from the shadows into the light but I still don't recognise him.
"H-Hamish?" Koji stutters.
"Of course, with the other two it's a completely different situation. With the other two I brought the girl, Charlotte, into the fight just as I have little Aya." Before Koji could reply, I interrupt.
"How do you know my name?!" Hamish chuckles and walks over to me, looking down at me from above.
"Well, I know everyone's name. I'm sure Koji can explain why." Hamish places a hand on my shoulder and looks back at Koji. Again, before Koji could speak I beat him to it.
"What business could you possibly had with a nine year old?" I shout, beginning to feel the anger rising in me. Hamish chuckles and walks over to Koji now, slapping him as hard as possible. I let out a small shriek and feel the tears sting my eyes. My eyes widen as I realise I have an advantage. As a girl, my wrists are generally smaller than the boys. I use this information and begin to twirl my wrists, feeling the rope slowly slip down. Gradually, the rope reaches the tip of my fingers and I silently drop it, managing to avoid Hamish hearing.
"That's what you deserved! Now, I'll be back in a minute or so...don't go anywhere..." he chuckles at his evil joke and winks at me before leaving out a thin metal door. I scoot myself over to Koji, still unable to walk because of my feet being cuffed to a wooden chair.
"Koji!" I whisper, telling him to turn around so I can untie his hands. His sobbing echoes through the room and I hear the door unlocking. I hurriedly return to where I was before and put my hands behind my back, pretending they were still tied. When Hamish returns into the light he holds a saw in his glove-covered hands and a sick grin on his face.
"You're a psycho!" I scream, the tears uncontrollably falling down to my chin.
"Don't I know it." He replies. He walks towards Koji, who to my surprise is smiling.
"Koji..." I mutter to myself. Hamish lifts up the saw and grins.
"Goodbye Koji..."
