"Oh you must be Naoki!" I say to the black haired boy that just walked in. The boy pierces me with a harsh glare.
"Who are you?" He asks.
"Sorry, I'm Aya Kato, your new house mate." I say with a smile. He doesn't send one back. Instead, he looks at Kyoya on the sofa.
"Why is she here?" Kyoya puts down the paper and turns to face the boy who's still standing just past the front door.
"She was a homeless orphan and she needed a place to stay." Kyoya answers. The boy shuts the front door and throws his bags on the floor, walking over to me.
"No, I'm not Naoki. I'm Subaru." He doesn't smile but his expression isn't too harsh so I just look away and mutter an apology. Koji, Hikaru and Takumi enter the room too, to greet Subaru but Subaru is too busy staring at me. The silence crushes me and I want to say something but anything I say would just make things even worse. Eventually, Subaru breaks the silence.
"So how did your parents die?" Everyone in the room sends harsh looks to the black haired boy.
"Subaru!" Hikaru hisses.
"No, it's okay. I mean, since I'm living with you guys you deserve to know, right?" I say with a forced smile. No one protests to my idea so I go on to tell the story.
"Well, about three years ago you might've heard of the plane crash over the Pacific Ocean in the news." A few of them nod their heads.
"Well, my parents were on that plane. The plane crashed...they drowned..." I wipe away a tear and Ryo wraps me in his arms. Subaru's expression softens and he mumbles a small apology.
"Well, now you know!" I say with yet another forced smile.
"It's amazing how you can still talk about that, Aya. You're a very brave girl." Takumi announces. I thank him and get on to making dinner.

Takumi is right, though. It is amazing how I can still talk about it.

Dinner is almost ready when yet another brother comes through the door.
"Did you guys hear from the social services about the girl we're adopting yet? I think she w- oh, you're here. Hello!" A tall brown haired boy walks through the door. Adopted? What did he mean by that? Kyoya looks up from his news paper.
"We didn't adopt her we requested her." I smile at him while mixing the sauce and he approaches.
"You're Aya, aren't you?" He asks. His eyes are so green emeralds must get jealous...
"Y-yes I am. You're Naoki?" I guess. He nods and leans on the counter.
"You're cooking dinner? Well I guess that gives me a day off, then." He shoots me a pearly white smile and I chuckle back, waiting for the spaghetti to finish.

Once dinner is done, I call everyone to come downstairs. Surprisingly, they all hear me. It starts off quite pleasant.
"So where are you from? Anywhere interesting?" Naoki asks.
"No, not really." I answer. Everyone seems to be enjoying their meal which puts a smile on my face. I didn't think I'd like it this much here but they've really proven me wrong. They're like brothers to me now. The brothers I never had.
"What do you do for fun?" Kyoya asks.
"Hm...usually draw, actually." Hikaru smiles at me from across the table, brushing his ginger hair from his face.
"That's lame." Subaru comments. Hikaru's smile fades at the comment.
"Now now, Subaru. Be nice." Naoki says.
"Don't tell me to be nice when I never asked for her to come here. This was all your ideas but I liked things the way they were!" Subaru shouts, slamming his fork on the table. I jump at the loud noise, which is followed by silence. Subaru stands angrily, pushing his full plate of spaghetti and meatballs away.
"I never wanted you here and I still don't." He angrily storms out, everyone else's eyes following. I sit there awkwardly, feeling like I've been stabbed with an icicle. He hasn't even known me for a day and he's already decided he's hated me.

I didn't think I was that bad...

"Sorry, Aya, I'll be a minute." Naoki says, jogging after Subaru.

Is this my life now?

Living with people I hate? I don't hate them though, do I?

They hate me...

Maybe I should just run away and never come back.

Maybe...
