Awkward pool conversations

I open the door to the pool and I'm met with complete silence. Beginning to feel better, I sigh and wonder over to the jacuzzi only to find...
"Aito! I completely forgot you were in here!" I try and cover myself up and as I do so, I think I see a small smile creep on his face.
"You're wearing a bikini. You're not naked. You don't have to cover up." My cheeks heat up as I enter the jacuzzi with him.
"Did I interrupt you?" I ask, watching him lean back and close his eyes, enjoying the soothing relaxing feeling of the bubbles brushing against our skin.
"No." His answer is short and blunt as if he's not even trying to help the flow of conversation.
"So...you're an athlete?" I ask, struggling and straining for any conversation starters.
"Yes."
"Are you good at a certain sport?"
"No."
"Do you enjoy being an athlete?" At this, Aito doesn't reply. Instead, his eyes open but he's only looking down at the water.
"You don't?" I say in the softest voice possible. He sighs of frustration and closes his eyes again, this time a frown forming on his face. After seeing this I just decide to stay silent. He's serious, unlike his brothers but maybe this is just a shy cover he's putting up. Maybe this isn't the real Aito. For once, Aito decides to start the conversation but with the worst conversation starter.
"How did your parents die?" I stiffen at the thought of having to explain it again but a part of me wants to start a friendship with him and it seems so impossible whenever I try so I'll just have to go along with whatever he enjoys talking about (which apparently in this case is dead parents). I go through the story of how they drowned after their plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean.
"Tragic." He says, not bothering to put the slightest bit of sympathy in his words. I sigh and get up to leave but Aito snatches my wrist and pulls me down, making me land on him. His skin is so warm...
"Aito..." I mutter, regaining my balance.
"Please stay. I enjoy your company." He says, not bothering to smile in the slightest. Considering this is a weird request coming from Aito, I stay. It's the silence I want to get away from but apparently I must stay with it since Aito wants me to.
"Why don't you like being an athlete?" I ask, not even expecting an answer but he surprises me with one anyway.
"It used to be about fun and doing my best even if I didn't win but now it's all about winning, times and being the best." After saying this, Aito lifts his violet eyes to meet mine and they catch me in a trance.
"Wow...turning your passion into a profession can be hard, can't it?" I comment, trying to empathise with him.
"Do you understand me, then?" He asks, a flicker of hope sparkling in his eyes.
"Sorry I don't really have a job...I'm still in school." I explain.
"So am I, though." My eyes widen at his comment. Sure he looks young but a top athlete in high school? I never would've guessed...
"Okay then...well, no I can't really empathise." I reply, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly. At that moment, the door to the pool room/basement swings open and Satoshi comes running up to us, clearly in panic.
"S-someone's kidnapped Koji!"
