"It's the day, Hikaru. Are you ready?"
"Of course my dear and sexy brother Ryo. Let's do this." I walk into the kitchen to see the twins grabbing their school bags while saying some...awkward things about each other.
"Wow, Hikaru! You're hair is looking so good today!"
"Of course my wonderful twin! I styled after you." Confusion spills over me until Takumi enters and gives me a helping hand.
"Stop pretending to be each other you two." He announces, a cup of coffee in hand.Today is Friday, the set test for the twins. If they do well enough, they may move up to Class C or even Class B.
"You guys all set?" I ask, bandaging up my wound.
"Yup." They answer in perfect unison. I roll my eyes and wish them luck, waving them out the door.
"You're sure you'll be okay?" Takumi asks, taking me by the shoulders and looking at me deep in the eye.
"I'll be fine." I say, forcing a certain smile when I feel so unsure. I leave out the door and I'm soon accompanied by Kyoya. As we walk, we talk and the mornings going fine. I can only hope it'll stay that way.I wave goodbye to Kyoya as I head to my class and he heads to his. Finn and Jessica aren't in the class today, which is unusual, but I shrug it off. Sitting on the window pane is Georgia, who upon seeing me, runs over.
"You're okay!"
"No thanks to you, Georgia."
"I'm sorry, it's just-"
"There is no excuse for stabbing someone!" I shout, cutting her off from her petty excuse. Hurt floods her eyes as she sighs and moves back to her desk at the opposite side to the classroom as me. I thought she'd say something to me but I didn't think it would be 'you're okay'.Worry begins to replace the anger as I look to the clock to see the twins would already be in their exam.
"Good luck..." I mutter under my breath.Hours pass like simple moments and when I get home I only see one twin.
"Hikaru! Where's Ryo? How'd you do?" I ask him, excitedly yet carefully skipping over to him.
"Ryo got called into work after school." Hikaru explains with a smile. Before I could ask, Aito comes through the door from school. He's in the year above us and he's eighteen. He's so tall I thought he was older than Naoki!
"Good afternoon, Aito." I cheerfully greet. He greets me back with the world's subtlest smile. Aito passes us and enters the elevator, where he then disappears.
"Work?" I then ask Hikaru.
"Yeah, he has to voice this hero guy in a new cartoon coming out soon." He explains with a smile. So Ryo is one of the voice actors...
"Who's the other voice actor then?" I question, attempting to figure it out myself.
"Satoshi." He answers. Satoshi and Ryo? I would've guessed Ryo but...Satoshi? No way.
"Oh, cool!" I say back.
"By the way, the test was so easy. I either nailed it or failed it!" He chuckles cheerfully and I return one back to him."Are you feeling okay?" Naoki questions, looking down at my hand over the bandages.
"I'm alright, honestly. Do you want help making dinner?" I ask. My question gets a cheery response as he smiles and we walk to the kitchen, getting out the ingredients for a pasta and salad dish. We talk and laugh while we prepare the food.
"Satoshi tried to tell me something the other day but he was interrupted by Kyoya." I explain while chopping onion. I wipe away the stinging tears and look over at Naoki.
"Really? What was he saying?" He inquisitively asks back.
"Something about 'it not being a game' and how I'm 'too stupid to understand'. And that's when he left." I say. Naoki raises his eyebrows.
"Even as his brother I have no idea what he's talking about." Speaking of the devil, the door opens and Ryo and Satoshi enter.I guess you could say Ryo really made an entrance.
"ALRIGHT PEASANTS." He stops and looks at me, grins, and runs over.
"Thanks to you, you can expect me and Hikaru in your class on Monday!" I sigh of relief and worry of what's to come.Hikaru and Ryo in the same class?
Lord save me.
"Yeah whatever. Being in the same class as her just means you're just as stupid as her. No achievement accomplished." Satoshi moans as he walks by, not even greeting me the way a normal person would. I shrug it off because that's the usual behaviour of Satoshi and congratulate Ryo.
"Oh poor Aya...I feel ever so sorry for you." Kyoya murmurs as he wanders towards the stairs. Ryo frowns and gulps down a drink I made him but on the last gulp, just like the apple incident, he coughs it back up, spluttering afterwards.
"I think we need to work on your eating a drinking."
"Aya did you know that 90% of food and drink I put in my mouth gets swallowed?"
"Ryo...that should be 100%" I argue with a shake of my head and a genuine smile.I haven't been this happy since mum and dad died... it's as if I'm a complete different person.
I continue helping Naoki cook dinner and when he places nine bowls for everyone my happiness abandons me and sadness returns once again.
It should be ten.
Subaru should be home.
Despite the massive douchebag he is I don't see how anyone can't miss him. He's so fun to be around.
"You're cooking dinner?" A voice states behind me. I turn around and see Aito standing at the counter.
"Y-yes is there a problem?" I enquire, not knowing what expression to mask my sadness behind.
"No not at all. I look forward to it." And with that, Aito goes back to his room, the smallest hint of a faint smile spreading across his lips.Aito is one boy I cannot figure out.
I carry on with my current task when Naoki mutters something inaudible under his breath but I shrug it off.
"Maybe Satoshi was right...maybe you are too stupid to see it now but later, like the smart girl you are, you will realise." He says, taking off his apron and heading towards the elevator. He didn't let me know where he was going, however, so I'm left to only wonder. What the hell was he talking about?
Too stupid to realise?
Realise what?!?
