Chapter Four

And so she handed her hands towards them. After a minute or more of deciding, she knew It was the only thing that she could do. It was either freedom or a trip to heaven---or worse, hell.

Ivan grinned wickedly. He was pleased to see The Black Enchantress surrender so easily to him. He laughed like an evil Santa Claus. His eyes stared at Madeline menacingly. "Give me the ring, or die."

For a moment, Madeline took a deep breath. She closed her eyes as the thoughts came rushing through her mind. How she ended up waking in Jack & Layla's secret hideout, how she opened the black box, and how she ended up being The Black Raven Enchantress.

"No."

Quickly, Madeline pointed her index finger towards Ivan. It blasted him & his crew to the ground. She pointed her hands to the sky, and in a split second, twelve black ravens were flying right above them. Two of them carried Madeline, Jack, and Layla while the rest of the ravens fought the eagles. They glided freely in the air, letting the winds punch their face gently.

"Those ravens should keep them awhile," Madeline said, half shouting.

Jack and Layla did not respond. "I think we should---DUCK!"

A huge branch was in front of them, ready to smack anyone on its way. Thankfully, they were just in time.

"Ha! That was close!" Jack said, happily. "Never knew riding ravens could be so fun."

Layla laughed, "I know, right! It feels refreshing. I haven't had this much freedom since the Eagle Boards starting hunting us down!"

"Wait."

Madeline's eyes were awake. Her posture was on the cautious mode, "I sense danger."

Both Jack and Layla chuckled. "What? No way. I know you're The Black Enchantress and all, but still, the Eagle Board are way far behind us, no way they could even catch up on---"

"AAAAAAHH!!"

Suddenly, dozens of canon fired from the ground hit both of the ravens. Both fell to the ground hard, making Madeline and the others feel pain.

"Ouch.. Ouch... This hurts..."

Madeline looked to her right, where Layla was brushing off the dusts and touching her wounds softly.

"Are you alright, Layla? Do I need to help you?"

She shooked, "Nope. These are just a couple minor wounds. I'll be okay in a couple of minutes."

She looked to her left, where Jack is eyeing Madeline. "Madeline, I think you're bleeding badly."

She giggled, "Wait, what? No... No way. I don't even feel anything!" Madeline took a quick glance at her hands. Still fine. She took a look at her feet. It's alright. Until she felt something. Something wet, yet thick.

"Blood."

She touched her stomach which left her hands covered in deep red blood. "Oh no... No. No. No."

Layla, seeing the situation, quickly ripped her shirt's sleeve. She closed the wound in Madeline's stomach.

Jack shouted to no one in anger, "Hey you! You who did this to Madeline! Come and face me if you dare!"

The bushes started to move. The wind started blowing. And there was a silhouette of a man.

"Layla?"

Layla gasped, "Daniel?"
