Chapter Fifteen

You would think the meeting with a glass werewolf was weird enough. But then Madeline was possessed by a creepy weirdo dude that claims he was 'The Killer of the Enchantress'. Nothing made sense. At all.

Ten minutes went by. Madeline-who was possessed-tried to kill Jack several times. At last Jack finally managed to shoo the possessor out of her body. A mist of red smoke came out of Madeline's mouth, eyes, and nose. Even her ears. But Jack kept chanting some weird trances on Madeline. And just like that, Madeline collapsed to the ground. The impact left her some scratches, but at least she's not possessed anymore.

"What happened?" She asked. And then she gasped. "Oh great, I just had the weirdest dream in my life. My dream was that I met this tall and slender guy. He said some creepy things like, 'You will follow your predeseccor's path', and 'I will retrieve my power once again.'-"

Jack cleared his throat, "Um, Madeline."

"And then this giant cute, cartoon-like worm wiggled out of nowhere and said cute things like, 'fluffy!' in a baby-like tone. And then suddenly it turned into a monstrous toad that tried to eat me-" Madeline said without even bothering to take a quick breath.

"Madeline," Jack called.

But Madeline kept on blabbering, "And then the creepy guy came back again and he was like, 'you shall die tomorrow when the sun starts to set, and the stars decorate the night'. In my dream, I got bored of listening to the that creepy guy, so I tried imagining happy thoughts like having a nice chit-chat while sipping some tea. And that happened right away as I have just started to think about that! It seemed as if the dream could read my mind and change its scenario just like what I wanted to!"

"Madeline!" Jack shouted. Madeline turned her head and faced Jack. He was trying to get her attention, obviously. He was about to speak, but then he hesitated. "Wait, what was the last part again?"

"Chit-chat with the guy while sipping some tea?"

Jack slapped his face with his palms, "No, I mean, the last part."

Madeline tried to remember the last part of her sentence. It was hard to remember at first, but then she spoke, "It was as if the dream could read my mind and change its scenario just like what I wanted to." She studied Jack's expression carefully. "What's wrong with that?"

"That's rare. What you have just experienced was soul possession."

Madeline lifted one of her eyebrows, "You mean, like in those horror movies?"

"Um, yeah, but it's more of a person entering your body rather than a ghost. In some occasions, the person who controls your body (or the possessor), could enter your thought while you're being possessed, in which you have experienced. The possessor might enter your thoughts either to manipulate it, delete some memories, or to talk to your spirit. In your case, the possessor was trying to talk to you through that dream."

Madeline rubbed her chin, "So, he wanted to talk to me about wiggling worms, giant killing toads, while sipping some tea?" she tried to think of it as a very serious discussion. But wiggling worms that says, 'fluffy!' all the time didn't sound very serious for Madeline.

"No, that's what's weird. The possessor was invading your dreams and then, without you meaning to do it, you tried to stop him from doing that by controlling your dreams back. You were the one who made that gigantic worm, or those toads appeared. You tried to fight against the possessor's magic, which led your brain to have a battle between itself, either to obey the possessor's order, or your order."
