Chapter Three

Madeline walked cautiously along the jungle. Along the way, she could see many tropical trees such as coconut trees, banana trees, and some of the world's most exotic plants like corpse flowers. The other plants were probably not from earth. Madeline kept walking and walking and walking without any clue of where she is heading. But there's only one thing on her mind; finding her way home.

While walking, Madeline talked to herself to cheer heself up, "I'm not an Enchantress. I must've been dreaming!" she mumbled. And then she stopped. "Wait. I am dreaming! Oh, this is silly! I should've known this from the beginning! This whole 'Magic Realm'  thingies  aren't real. They're just my imaginations!" she said to herself. If you saw Madeline, you could've mistaken her for a drunk person---laughing and talking unconsciously to herself.

She laughed. Madeline still thought that it was just a dream. She was still waiting for her alarm on her phone to wake her up.

'Rrrrr...'

She stopped. "Wait a minute. Did I just hear my phone? Well, then, it's about time my alarm wake me! Bye 'Magic Realm'. I'm gonna miss---"

'RRRRR...'

The noise grew louder and louder, until she noticed that the ground was shaking. She knew that her choice was either to run, or to stay there and freeze. So, she ran as hard as she could, and after few minutes of running, she had a cramp and fell hard to the ground.

"A cramp? Seriously? Ugh, I am so out of luck." She grunted.

A couple of eagles were flying above Madeline. Their squawks were bone chilling. She could feel her spine tingling and her hair rising. As she looked above, she could ten gigantic eagles gliding through the skies freely. It was magical at first sight. But then, it all came to Madeline.

Madeline gasped in horror, "Oh no." She held her breath.

The eagles landed right just in front of her. All of them were carrying their boss. Their bosses were all wearing white and chocolate robe. They were all carrying a wooden oak staff with white feathers floating around it. Madeline's eyes were in a state of horror when she figured out who those people were. But not until the last eagle landed harshly, and two bodies were thrown off into the ground.

"No, this couldn't be happening!"

There, lying on the cold hard ground, were two people, hands tied together, mouth covered by a cloth, and legs tied together. They were struggling hard, trying to open those cloths and ropes. They were all glaring at the nine people.

Madeline could feel the anger boiling up. A single cold tear rolled down her cheeks. She was too angry to cry. Too angry to think.

"Well, well, Madeline Carson. My name is Ivan Lorr. So, it seems like---"

Madeline cut Ivan's words, "What do you want? I know who you are. I know what you're doing to them! You're evil. You're greedy. You know nothing about politeness, nor people's feelings. All you think about is yourself!"

The guy on the left burst out, "Alright that's enough!"

"Silence, Edogar!"

Ivan's eyes were wide. He was eyeing Madeline's finger cautiously, as if it was a vicious cobra. He started to shake. He's as if he's having epilepsy. After a minute or more of shaking, he stopped. He stopped with a wicked smile. "So, it seems like you know this rubbish, eh?" Ivan kicked the people who were being held captive. They rolled towards Madeline, harshly.

When the two people were finally in front of her, Madeline was so happy. "Oh, my God! I thought I'd never see you guys again." They were Jack and Layla. "How did you end up here?" They struggled to talk, but it was impossible, for their mouth had been covered by a cloth.

Ivan pointed his staff towards the three of them menacingly. "So, shall we make a deal? You give me the ring, and I'll let the three of you go. If you don't, well, ...bye bye world."

Madeline looked at the ring that she have been putting on since she found it in the black box. She didn't even realize that she had been putting it on for that long. She looked at Jack, and then to Layla. Both of their eyes seemed to say, 'Don't give them the ring!'

After what seemed like forever, Madeline knew what she had to do. She handed her hands towards them.
