Chapter Thirteen
Streaks of black or purple lightning began to strike every millisecond. The battle was so intense, even Mark, Hansel and Ivan had the time to just stop, and stare in awe and utter disbelief. Jack was also staring blankly at the battle. As Daniel had described it, it was, "A battle of the most powerful against the most indestructible, or you could say as 'invincible'."
Madeline kept on hitting the glass werewolf (that's what they call it), on the foot, on the arm and on the head. She ran and flew in such a great agile, that no one could barely even notice where Madeline was. At the first time, you might just say like, 'Oh, there's Madeline. She's near the glass werewolf's feet. I can spot her so easy, wow.' and then one point one seconds later she was already in the glass werewolf's head.
She kept on relentlessly hitting the glass werewolf with her staff. She'd summon fireballs, black orbs, thunderbolts. But still, the glass werewolf wasn't dead yet. It was as clean and healthy as it was about thirty minutes ago, just with some scratches on its chest, a broken right arm, and a small hole in its left leg. But it didn't seem to bother it.
Madeline stopped for awhile and knelt to the ground. She was exhausted of course, but she was still as vigorous as she could be. She drew a circle in the dirt. "What would you do, if you're up against an opponent that has no weaknesses, and appears to have no problems with losing an arm, having a hole in its leg, and scratches in its chest?"
Concentrating on something while a glass werewolf is howling wildly at you on the battlefield was pretty much hard. At first, Madeline knelt calmly while thinking of a strategy. But after minutes of howling, the glass werewolf began to approach. Madeline whispered to herself, "It'll either kill me, or stomp me into becoming one with the earth, like literally."
Again, she tried gaining her focus. It did work very well, but she knew she had to be quicker, as the glass werewolf was just about two hundred meters away. Surely, the pressure of having been killed by the glass werewolf was terrifying enough.
"Just surrender already," Mark shouted. Hansel was beside him, sharpening his knife while showing no interest at all at the battle. "Eventually you'll just be defeated, or killed." Hansel and Mark cackled like the witch you'd see in 'Hansel and Gretel' (or maybe 'Hansel and Mark').
"You're weak. You're too innocent to fight a battle like this. You're too gullible. Just surrender already." Mark's voice echoed in Madeline's head.
And that's when a new surge of energy came rushing through Madeline's vein. The anger of being betrayed and insulted by the ones you thought were your friend, was painful enough to bring a new kind of electricity sparking through her body. Her purple-black eyes sharpen as they glowed more powerful by the second. Her staff sparked with electricity. Her fingers were catching on fire, which she intended to do.
"Yeah, I guess you're right Mark. You are too scared to even fight me alone. Guess you didn't have the courage to fight me, eh?" Madeline laughed.
Her instinct told her to run towards the glass werewolf. And she did, eventually. Which was kind of weird, since she didn't know where to attack the glass werewolf.
"Everyone has their plus and minus, honey. Everyone has a weak spot. Nothing's immortal, or invincible." Her mom's voice gave her a new hope. She didn't know where that voice came, or how, but it certainly indicated something. That something, was to find the glass werewolf's weak spot.
Madeline closed her eyes as the wind blew her hair around. Her face slammed against the air, giving fresh new thought to her brain as she closed her eyes. 'Think, Madeline. Think. What was the thing used to kill werewolves in the old fictional books I used to read?' She asked herself quietly.
